Offline marketing, my personal favorites:
1. Branded Freebie Town Takeover- Create (or outsource) a wicked cool logo for shirts. Then contract with a printing company a bulk deal, something like 1000 shirts for $2000 (you might find better deals, look around). Now take your shirts and go down to the towns main street. Find a spot that a ton of vehicles drive by. Go into the business with the spot outside of it. Ask for the manager/owner and offer him $50 or so to give a way the shirts (for free) in front of his business. Get a fu**ing huge sign and put "FREE NEW SHIRTS! THAT'S RIGHT FREE". I guarantee that the shirts will be gone in less than a half hour. Can you even imagine a town crawling full of people with your cool looking logo all over their shirts? Now only will the people who get them go to your url, but people who see them, and with a town full of people with the shirts they will be like "dude, we all have this fu**king shirts. Let's see what this is about." If you were to make 15 sells (which is fu**king guaranteed) of a $10 dollar product, then wow! You have already made your money back. Also contact the media about the story "giving away a thousand free shirts" and get a ton of pr and such (if it gets on the news ever more media attention!) You'll probably average about 300-400 sells of your $10 product. :O
2. Yellow Page Ads- self explanatory
3. Around town method- Make a big poster that looks very cool. Go into local stores and pay them to put the sign up in there windows.
4. City Websites- Most modern cities will have a city website. Take advantage of this! Offer to make a "donation" for a link and review on the site.
5. Free advertisement (in exchange for services)- Let's say you're artist who specializes in murals. Go to your local pediatrician, school, dentist , or hospital, and offer them a free mural. Every person leaving/entering the building will see your mural. Place your logo deftly into the corner somewhere. The same can be done with web design. Get the picture?
6. Newspaper- ‘nuff said
7. Buss stops- Most people waiting at bus stops are bored out of their mind. Pay to have the bench painted with your logo. It's hard not to notice something your sitting on. (plus all passerby will see it)
8. Do something stupid- Pay someone ($500-$1000) to set chained to a pole or something for 3 days without eating. Make him/her wear logos all over his/her clothing. Most likely get onto the news.
9. Driving logos- You've all seen those vehicles with the logos all over them. You usually can't help but stare. DO NOT GO AND F**ING PAINT YOUR VEHICLE! Go purchase some big magnets with your logo on them ($35). Beside your own pay other people to put them on theirs.
10. Walking advertisement- cover yourself (head to toe) with branded clothing. You will get oodles of attention.
11. Sponsor charity events in exchange for good pr
12. Little League (love this one)- Purchase the jerseys for local little leagues (baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, etc...). Make sure you don't team up with anyone else on this one just purchase all of them full price. ($800) or less, rarely over that. Now put your logo on the back. Uber pr.
13. Create some stupid holiday (EG: customer day!)- Make a stupid holiday like customer day and promote the hell out of it. Everthings half off because of customer day! Unrelated your $40 product went up to $80, luckily everythings half off!
14. Ads everywhere!- Pay someone/some ones to go and put your fliers everywhere. Make them creative, my personal favorite being like "Your street has been selected for the half off street of the week" (note the rhyme, people love jingles).
P.S. Do not f**king post fliers in restrooms. Do you know how f***ing desperate that looks?
