    Offline marketing, my personal favorites:

    1. Branded Freebie Town Takeover- Create (or outsource) a wicked cool logo for shirts. Then contract with a printing company a bulk deal, something like 1000 shirts for $2000 (you might find better deals, look around). Now take your shirts and go down to the towns main street. Find a spot that a ton of vehicles drive by. Go into the business with the spot outside of it. Ask for the manager/owner and offer him $50 or so to give a way the shirts (for free) in front of his business. Get a fu**ing huge sign and put "FREE NEW SHIRTS! THAT'S RIGHT FREE". I guarantee that the shirts will be gone in less than a half hour. Can you even imagine a town crawling full of people with your cool looking logo all over their shirts? Now only will the people who get them go to your url, but people who see them, and with a town full of people with the shirts they will be like "dude, we all have this fu**king shirts. Let's see what this is about." If you were to make 15 sells (which is fu**king guaranteed) of a $10 dollar product, then wow! You have already made your money back. Also contact the media about the story "giving away a thousand free shirts" and get a ton of pr and such (if it gets on the news ever more media attention!) You'll probably average about 300-400 sells of your $10 product. :O

    2. Yellow Page Ads- self explanatory

    3. Around town method- Make a big poster that looks very cool. Go into local stores and pay them to put the sign up in there windows.

    4. City Websites- Most modern cities will have a city website. Take advantage of this! Offer to make a "donation" for a link and review on the site.

    5. Free advertisement (in exchange for services)- Let's say you're artist who specializes in murals. Go to your local pediatrician, school, dentist , or hospital, and offer them a free mural. Every person leaving/entering the building will see your mural. Place your logo deftly into the corner somewhere. The same can be done with web design. Get the picture?

    6. Newspaper- ‘nuff said

    7. Buss stops- Most people waiting at bus stops are bored out of their mind. Pay to have the bench painted with your logo. It's hard not to notice something your sitting on. (plus all passerby will see it)

    8. Do something stupid- Pay someone ($500-$1000) to set chained to a pole or something for 3 days without eating. Make him/her wear logos all over his/her clothing. Most likely get onto the news.

    9. Driving logos- You've all seen those vehicles with the logos all over them. You usually can't help but stare. DO NOT GO AND F**ING PAINT YOUR VEHICLE! Go purchase some big magnets with your logo on them ($35). Beside your own pay other people to put them on theirs.

    10. Walking advertisement- cover yourself (head to toe) with branded clothing. You will get oodles of attention.

    11. Sponsor charity events in exchange for good pr

    12. Little League (love this one)- Purchase the jerseys for local little leagues (baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, etc...). Make sure you don't team up with anyone else on this one just purchase all of them full price. ($800) or less, rarely over that. Now put your logo on the back. Uber pr.

    13. Create some stupid holiday (EG: customer day!)- Make a stupid holiday like customer day and promote the hell out of it. Everthings half off because of customer day! Unrelated your $40 product went up to $80, luckily everythings half off!

    14. Ads everywhere!- Pay someone/some ones to go and put your fliers everywhere. Make them creative, my personal favorite being like "Your street has been selected for the half off street of the week" (note the rhyme, people love jingles).

P.S. Do not f**king post fliers in restrooms. Do you know how f***ing desperate that looks?

When I said you would have to sell 15. I don't what I was thinking you would need to sell 205 copies if your product was $10, still fairly easy. However, more often then not it will probaly be a service, hince much faster returns

I forgot one, you know those ads that play at the beginning of movie theaters? Contrary to popular belief, their not that expense. If you have a pro make the video then you can expect excellent returns.

    You are sooo right!

Also you have a option of just putting up a ad on a slide, which will work with the line

"After this movie you might ______________ "

Which will lead up to your offer / promotion.

You can also offer free paper place mats to restaurants and get people in the local area to advertise on the place mats.

You can try the same thing with pizza boxes.

Never tried this- but I see ad's like this all the time.

Ink Pens guys. Ink Pens. I can't believe no-one has mentioned pens yet. Go make a thousand cheap plastic pens with your url on them. Leave them everywhere. At a restaurant? Leave a pen. At the bank? Leave a pen. Give those fuckers out to everyone! People throw away business cards and fliers, 99% of people WONT throw away a pen, because its useful! Remember that the nicer your pen, the more people will tend to look at them, but the more expensive it will be. Still, you can get pens now for the same price as fliers and business cards.

PS: This is a long term advertisement, so don't do it for a temporary website or project, as you will not use its full potential.

Pens can get pretty costly.. I think a local does them for .14 though so it's not that bad.. Pens at banks for local customers, they just come and go.. Knocking out a pen cup with and replacing them with trademark pens might do justice.. Have to be tactical though..

Or go to a library where people have plenty of free time, just to swap out mousepads with custom advert on them.. Might work for the better..

I don't think it gets better than fliers(or magnets) though, sure people through them away.. That's more due to the selection, there are quite a few people who keep fliers around for that "just in case" moment..

Calendars are good as well, especially around certain special times such as new years..

Offline marketing is a money sink for sure.. It's def not a get rich quick for most, it all evolves around the tactics of your approach and the timing.. Depending on the offer, you can bank quick and then some.. Your call to action will be the outcome.

To have them 'go' is the whole point. ;) Also, from what I've seen pens cost as much as magnets or quality fliers. The point is, people stick a flier or magnet somewhere and they never look at it again. Pens people use. Give those things to your entire family and have them give them out.

PS: To be honest, I've only used this for off-line business, but we were driving people to our website, so I don't see how this can't work for IM.

Oh I'm glad you are and I'm not knocking it.. Just speaking towards the fact fliers/magnets get more information out.. It all depends on the person, I can think of many people who use pens and have them get lost, or just throw them in the "pen pile" not to be used for several weeks.. Then when the time comes, that pen is not chosen.. In this case it's basically a flier with barely any info, just enough to get them to "go".

For pens in a work environment where certain things get passed around, it's more of a god'send.

Good to use all methods possible at your disposal.

Offline Marketing can be cheap as (insert your favorite BHW member)'s sister.

I got 5k biz cards full color front black and white back for 60 w/ shipping. They even arrived early. Its called google and its really neat for price checking.

Anyone can wheatpaste a poster up. Now can you do multiple? You can take your promo design and enlarge it huge on multiple tiles, pages, prints, whatever works for you to make it work. The larger the printer you have access to the better. but ripping off Kinko's is pretty simple. Pay for a few, and print a few to many. And I by print I mean using the enlarger.

Got Pride? OR just want to have fun? I saw a ad for sign walkers today that paid $8 an hour. $8 f$%*& dollars an hour to walk around with a sign. Stand on a corner with fliers and a sandwich board for one hour and use a clicker to count views. I dare you. Do I need to mention the fliers and sandwich board needs to have your site?

1 page = 4 fliers or 2 fliers, or whatever you want to make of it. Kinkos has a free paper cutter even if you don't print there. Have you noticed the morale at Kinkos is usually low?

Man we got so many offline tips and ideas were just trying to exhaust them first in our market before spilling them all out for other ( better) peeps to exploit.

We should start an Offline Marketing Group and only allow one member in from each market/city to share ideas, tactics, etc.

They do that all over here in Chicago and the burbs.....Ron Paul stickers every few hundred feet on traffic signs. :)

Illegal most likely, but it will certainly get attention, and they can't necessarily blame YOU for putting them up, so I would say it is a go...just make sure to put them up in areas without cameras, cops, or at the very least times when not many people are out.
