i have a second hdd with windows on it if i want to play games... but ubuntu is beyond awesome and rarely go on windows....12.04 is sweet

I use EasyPeasy on my netbook, Cyanogen-Mod on my phone, Linux-Mint on my heavy-duty workstation and Debian on my servers.
Its very sad that I regularly have to switch to windows 7 on the workstation, because of programs like after-effects. Hope to get a second unit with MacOS for that soon, or that wine will make one giant leap for mankind.
Its interesting to see that Linux-Mint did not get a mention yet. IMHO its the best solution for disgruntled Ubuntu users.

I basically only use windows for gaming and my ubuntu installation for everything else. Programming in VIM, making things easy with the linux shell, and creating bots.
And plus, I only use like 60mb of ram on boot. <3 it
Oh and I created my own bot for youtube that runs on my debian server.

Linux Mint kills Ubuntu. I'm still looking for a OS that's faster than Mint but has the same out of the box ease of use. I haven't used Windows in months, and I don't need windows for games. My games are IM and SEO.

Wish I could join in on the linux enthusiasm, I keep experimenting with it but I've gotten my windows setup EXACTLY as I want it, I'm just so much more productive on windows plus like others have said windows is where my games are.
However, I've got to say I'm really starting to love using SSH on my VPS. It allows me to create and run some awesome PHP bots. As an example I recently learned how to make 'multi-threaded' PHP applications using pcntl_fork. I managed to build a nice comment poster capable of doing around 3,000,000 posts every 24 hours!

Is there any good VM software for Linux? I have a Ubuntu box I use for web dev and programming and a win box for my IM needs. I am planning on combining the two PC's and run windows in a VM on my Linux box.

Not a bad idea. I've run XP within Ubuntu (and Debian) + Virtualbox in Seamless mode before. It works pretty well and still takes less resources than Windows 7 does lol.
No one is going to like this but I am a grey-beard Linux user going back to the mid 90's RedHat 3 - before enterprise and fedora editions existed. Now, I use only Mac OS but always have a VM running for a ton of things like development and SEO. I have been running Ubuntu for a couple of years now just because I can get an image running in under an hour and be ready to go.
