NYC Social Network Any Advice?

Just started a social network in the nyc area any advice on marketing?

Word of mouth is always good. Fake users and then spread the word locally. Takes a lot of work, but it should work.

print out the url on some small colored paper (Pink and Yellow and Green). get on the subway heading to a mall or somewhere where teens and kids or w/e go. throw the paper around like it's confetti. get some tape and tape it around on the train doors, on bathroom stalls etc. print out fliers that say you're giving away a free ipod or laptop or w/e new hot tech is out that month. say that everyone is entered to win or that first 50 signups will get that prize. Make sure domain has whois privacy or you may get some jerk trying to report you for littering lol.
