http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2011/12/google_will_change_web_marketi.html It seems Google is increasingly trying to push out marketers, who they view as middlemen. Anyone who runs AdSense sites should be worried about that. We all know that they have started cracking down on affiliates advertising via AdWords. Their purchase of ITA was HUGE, and am surprised a bigger deal wasn't raised about it. Gradually they can push out competitors like Expedia and Kayak out of business. They have already been doing that to Yelp. If they enter ticketsales they can push out Ticketmaster (actually I wouldn't mind Ticketmaster having a legitimate competitor, their high fees suck). Google is like a hungry fat kid who is trying to get his hands into EVERY cookie jar, and can never get enough. That is one of the reasons why I love Facebook and Apple - they are building walled gardens that Google can't get their grabby paws on, and that pisses Google off. They spin some bullshit PR about "information being free", except what they actually mean is they want that information to be free as long as Google controls it. Don't be evil? Give me a f-ing break.
