I had one website like that. Multi Niche sites are difficult to rank, but not impossible. It took me 2+ years of hard work to rank my multi niche website. Maybe try to limit your website to a particular topic. I think that might help you in some way.
 
I think publishing quality content and optimizing SEO are the key

Hey sorry to hear that, first, have you check your site index status on google, is it indexed properly? (use "site:yoursiteurl" to check ) and how about articles you've published are they got index properly?

Second, have you submit your site into Google search console?

You need good keyword research to find easy to rank keywords. There are services around it as well .
 
you just restarted your work on the 3 year old site, it will take some time. Also, you need to create and publish more high quality articles with proper on page optimization and internal linking structure for a better user experience

You can organize events that are targeted at specific positions or industries and charge attendance fees or sponsorship fees.
