Not allowing new members to post a new thread

I have seen that a lot of members register here just to promote their website, forum or product. Otherwise, they are trying to fool with a money making method with their affiliate links. As per my observation, there are 50-100 such posts everyday here. Moderators eventually remove them but this is waste of their valuable time. Solution to the issue is that new members should be required at least 10-15 posts spread over 3-4 days before being allowed to post a new thread. Will help reduce spam.

In my personal opinion, This will give the spammers some more time on the forum to dump their waste in the threads. Most of the time they are forum bots spamming everywhere. It will increase the necro-bumps and post inflation. Once they achieve the post counts, you will see new threads the same way like now. This will only increase the headache of mods.

Its us who can check / report such threads and members to help the mods keep the forum clean.

Not worried about forum safety here. But I am sure it is huge pain for moderators cleaning all this up. This is something required 24 hours.

No. I feel that yellow members are already restricted enough. Any additional restrictions and Black Hat World will be like one of those free-to-play games where 99.999% of the content is locked behind a membership and the other 0.001% is just blue balls for the real game.

When you see avatars with blatant promotions in them, report them. I've already removed the avatars for the accounts you listed.

That wouldn't help. People are twitchy-fingered and already don't read the threads that tell them:

• Why their post count isn't increasing
• How not to get scammed
• Not to post threads on politics and religion

I could keep going, but you get the point.

a message applied to users under certain post/age threshold trying to create a thread warning "don't create threads on x y z topics or you will be reprimanded " would be nice. but if you search the forum this has been suggested for years and nothing happens.

kind of like "do you agree to ToS before signing up"? nobody reads, they scroll to end & click agree.

You suggested a nice modification. If people come up with more suggestions, something may happen this time.

You can make it work. Like ask them to input some information provided in that sticky thread. This should not be hard.

as a new member, not having anything you wrote in mind, I would honestly have no problem with that. and it slows down the pace in which some minds approach this forum and come back / continue with possibly more.. quality
