NordVPN is based in Panama. ProtonVPN in Switzerland.

Not sure about the privacy laws in Panama but they are pretty strict in Switzerland.

Proton also has a fully anonymous email service, that can be a catch-all if you pay more for it.

I've felt that it's safer after switching. I can only recommend it.

You can also tunnel through the Tor Network but I'm sure they aren't the only ones with that feature now.
