Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I've been trying to use Google Analytics and am struggling to derive much useful info from it.

Essentially, for a client, I wish to know

a) which keywords/phrase a visitor typed into Google to find my site
b) which pages did they visit and which one did they leave from

So, I'd like to follow how a user used our site (knowing which keywords they typed).

Is this possible with Google Analytics or do I need to think about alternative tools?

Many thanks for your replies.

Once you link Google's Webmaster tools with your analytics site you'll see this data in Analytics under the Traffic Sources -> SEO area.

You don't need to link Webmaster Tool with Analytics, you don't even need Webmaster Tools to see this.

In Google Analytics you can click "Traffic Sources > Sources > Search > Organic" and it will show you all your traffic for organic keywords.

Thanks for all the replies and for answering part a). I'm still not understanding how I can see which path a particular user took and know how they got to my site in the first place though. Unless I'm missing something.

My confusion might stem from this problem I keep getting in Analytics:

Nothing I've tried, or read on Google Help forums has resolved this. Any ideas?

Many thanks for your help so far once again.

You seem to be going to the wrong place.

Don't go to Traffic Sources > Sources > SEO.

Go to Traffic Sources > Sources > Search > Organic

Yup that tells me how many people typed in a particular phrase but I want to know which pages those people visited. Can I find out how a particular user who typed 'bananas', say, navigated through my client's site?

content=>site content=>landing pages=>entrance path

this will show you what keywords bring visitors to your page and how they navigate from that page to other pages

Hey, thanks senty and others. I'll have a go at that. And sorry for late reply.
