nofollow -- google changes it AGAIN

Well. Either way every comment comes up for moderation. It depends on what your blog is about and its current traffic.
Blogs that have many subscribers..Problogs in particular would not even care about PR since they already have a following.
For Autoblogs I would recommend simply turning OFF comments. Again..there may be a contradiction here...since you would be sacrificing "content updates" in favor of "static pages"
I.E Google likes pages that are updated once in a while and comments coming in does that automatically.

this sucks for us, but from googles point of view, they are just trying to make their search results more relevant - thats what they are always trying to do, so, like cuts said:

"Hey, did you hear our latest inside tip? Make relevant content. "

now, more so than ever, the sites that rank well will be the more relevant ones, with more content, and better keyword targeting. this is a good thing for a lot of site owners - think about it: you might have a site that you have put a lot of work into with keyword targeting and good content, but may only be on page 3 in the results for your targeted keywords, always being dominated by a bunch of sites that have spammed comments and what not. you might just be coming up in the world

i am strong believer in trying to make the best, most content rich site possible first, and then focusing on the black hat stuff. i think its stupid to waste your time building up backlinks and stuff for a site that will never rank as well. if you do the combo, you are bound to succeed

Ok so, just so I'm understanding this correctly... I should now remove the "nofollow" attributes from all of my 'Contact Us', 'Privacy Policy', 'Sitemap' internal links on all of my sites, right?

exactly. methods that work now are not going to work in 2 years. the point of a search engine is to find the most relevant results for the user, and google is going to keep on changing things until they have it "perfect"

think about really old blackhat SEO stuff like keyword stuffing and making the text colour match the background - that actually used to work! if you do that now you are shooting yourself in the foot, you will get penalized by the search engines

i am preparing my sites now for the day google gets it spot on and no "dodgey" SEO stuff works anymore

Is anyone aside from me getting a little tired of jumping through hoops to appease the search engine results? Think about it, you have 20-30 sites that you've built and sculpted according to the current "favored model" or algorithm, only to have the goalpost shifted 6 months later.

I know Google like to shake things up a bit but jeesh. PR juice evaporating once it leaves the page just doesn't connect the dots with me.

Thats the thing. Don't make websites for the engines. Do basic SEO and make your content good and over the long term not only will you get return visitors but you'll rank better as well.

Page Rank evaporating. I thought the whole premise of the Google search engine was page rank. No we have gone full circle and said content rich sites. That is what Alta Vista said.

For what it's worth, some people think Matt Cutts is just making shit up again and misspoke (like he always does). So it's best to wait for clarification on this.

This is so true. I have tried almost everything in this forum with adsense sites and the only one I can count on is the one I made by hand. It has hand written articles and good keyword research and seo. That one site outperforms all the others combined. However, I couldn't have built it so well without the great stuff I found right here on BHW. It pays off tremendously when you put your work into the content and automate the other stuff. It is all about keeping up with what goog wants this month. Figuring out what the search engines want is the hardest part of marketing online, doing it is easy.

the funny thing is , is that ive been looking into PR but i have for a while come to the conclusion that PR is useless anyway im just worried about BLs and traffic anyway
