I notice that in some niches youtube doesn't care about SEO, I see videos without any tags and seo in the title gaining first rank in the search just because the video is long (8 minutes and above) while the videos with more views than the one in first place ranks 5 in the poll which is totally random and makes me wonder what the shit yt does.

Not always, it depends on the niche, even keyword niche with low competition, the paid views (even in best panels) are not classified in 1 rank, but 5 in the rank, something that makes no sense, even the video has more views and likes

YouTube pushes some videos to top randomly. If you are consistent and keep uploading , at least some videos will surely go viral. But you should have patience.
 
Paid views, or the people is curious about the content because it looks peculiar, so even when there is no SEO is because catchy content like the creepypasta videos.

I believe that this is not a constant upload, but channels that have authority in the niche, my video was the first in a sub-niche and has more views than others, good ctr and retention, others came, some great channels and mine video from rank 1 went to rank 5 or 7, sometimes it goes to 10 or 12, but I discovered a little trick that makes the channel more relevant (the channel, not the video) and my videos from another channel went up a lot in rank, the thing is to experiment and analyze, sometimes it takes days, and in total it can take weeks for the experiment to have tangible results.

That can be done in one or two videos but to grow a channel you need to work on tags and description.
