Update #3
Just in case you guys have already started doing your kw research, I want to give you guys a tip for your kw for your first site. Sure, getting a kw that has high priced items and great searches/month is great for your earning potential. BUT DON'T FORGET YOUR SKILL! If this is your first site, I highly recommend getting a kw with a product that is around the $15-$30 range as it will have low comp and I highly recommend that you get a keyword with searches in the 500-1500 range. Even going above 1000 will give you plenty of competition.
As we will be trying to spend as little money as possible, it is SO IMPORTANT that you get a VERY low comp keyword. Usually, if you get a keyword with a low price point and low searches, not many people will be targeting it so you will have low competition.
I have already picked out my buyer keyword which is in this format. Best *** *** ***.
As you can see, it is a buyers keyword because it has the keyword "best" in it. If you rank for "niche", there will be higher comp and a majority of your buyers won't be purchasing but looking for information. So it is VERY important that you choose a keyword with "best" "top" or "reviews".
Here are my keywords metrics.
Keyword: "Best (adjective)niche (noun)niche (noun)niche" - note: longer keywords often are better because they will have lower searches and will be more accurate for the searcher
Metrics:
- Searches/month US: 1000 searches a month/$2 CPC/high comp (advertisers) - note: the high CPC means that advertisers are targeting this kw so that means we have found a good niche that people are actually interested in.
- Google First Page - Littered with authority sites and small niche sites attempting to rank for this keyword. This is great since I know that this is a good niche to target. However, with my low budget, it will be very difficult to rank #1 for this keyword. I will be talking more about this below.
First Page - Now as said before, the first page has a lot of high authority sites. I obviously can't outrank these sites because of their age and authority but I will be using a workaround. Using sites like termexplorer.com, I can find related keywords around this niche so that I can find keywords with less searches/month but with less comp. As we are looking to save as much money as possible, we can rank these low comp keywords with around 5 PBNs and several guest posts. This can give us a bit of stable income of around $100-200/month which we can use to target our main and initial keyword.
Product Price Average ($15) * 0.35 (First Site) * 0.5 (CTR to Amazon) * 0.06 (% that buys) * 1000 (searches/month) = gives us around $130/month. With all the keywords we will be ranking for with a lot less comp then our main keyword, we can make a lot more.
The next post will have the game plan for our site and I will be starting the actual process in a couple of days after I have laid out everything for you guys.
EDIT: The domain I have chosen is "niche expert.com" To clarify, my niche is Best (adjective)Kw1 Kw 2 Kw 3. The domain I have chosen is "kw2kw3expert.com" as I can expand to a lot of related niches as well since the adjective or kw1 is a niche out of several in this kw2 kw3 niche.
To clarify further, lets say my kw is "blue metal toasters". blue = (adjective kw1) metal = kw2 toaster = kw3.
My domain would be metaltoastersexpert.com or something similar since I won't be limited to just "blue metal toasters" with bluemetaltoasterseexpert.com but I can expand to other colors and other "adjectives" within the metal toasters niche with the domain metaltoastersexpert.com.
You aren't only limited to expert. If it is not available, you can use "guru" "guy" "girl" instead of expert. Anything that will make you sound knowledgeable in this subject is fine. Don't worry too much about the domain, just make it brandable, partial matching, and easy to remember.
