The proxy IP is, well an IP format, while the proxy server is usually like a website-like. By and large, they should work just fine on either fields you put, depending on the port you're using. If you're still getting connection issues, you should consider using other tools that applies your proxy, either an extension for browser specific uses or applications for broader uses.

Did you whitelist your own IP to allow connecting to the proxy from it?

Some proxies might need to be connected to using ip: port:user: pass

  • Authentication: Some proxy providers require authentication. If you're using one of those proxies, you'll need to input your username and password.
  • Blacklisted IPs: Websites are clever these days. If they detect suspicious activity from an IP, they might block it. It’s possible the proxies you're trying are already blacklisted by the sites you're trying to access.
  • Outdated Proxies: Proxies might not last forever, especially the free ones. Always ensure you're using fresh and working proxies. Considering the merchants you mentioned like BrightData and Smartproxy, they usually provide quality and fresh IPs.
  • Configuration: Double-check your browser and system settings. Ensure that you have correctly entered the IP, port, and any required credentials.
  • Firewall/Security Software: Sometimes local firewall or security software might be blocking your connection to the proxy server. Ensure that they aren't the culprit.

Yeah probably the proxy ip is bad and getting banned already..
