I had purchased a domain a while ago. I didn't put any work into yet, I secured it to work on in the future. Well, I went and did a check on the domain and it has no backlinks, no webpage but the domain already has a Spam Score of 80%+. How could this happen? DA is 1 and PA is 3.

The website isn't connected to any site yet.

Ignore the BS and relax man.
I am surprised at how people still give a sht about this useless metrics honestly. As far as I know, spam score comes with a lot of false positives and false negatives.

DA, PA yada yada blah blah ain't ranking factors yet SEOs have continue to sell their soul on these only. While these metrics can "inform" you to some extent, you also don't want to be misguided by them.

Domain metrics are just vanity metrics, so don't focus on them. On the other hand, if the domain is an expired one, maybe it is still linked to a pbn-like network, hidden for ahrefs, moz, semrush, etc.

To solve it, try to build healthy links, take care of your site & site's content.

The domain has activity way back to 2004 after a Wayback Machine check.

Once I have time, I will start rebuilding the domain back. I'll make it a journey!

Until and unless you see links from spammy websites pointing to your website and traffic coming from complete scrap websites, you do not need to worry about any of the mentioned above

G resets most metrics when domains are sold

Except for manual actions, those will stick

The high spam score on your unused domain may be due to its previous history or association with spammy content, even if it's not currently connected to any site. Consider disavowing any potential toxic backlinks and regularly monitoring it for spammy activity to improve its efficiency.

Even if you haven't used your domain yet, it may have a high spam score because of its past history or how it was used by the previous owner. When you start working on your website, be sure to check for any suspicious links and remove them if needed to improve its reputation

sometimes shared hosting also play this kind of role. however, what I've learned, SS is not something to be worried about.

you mentioned that the domain is not connected to any other sites, there might be hidden or non-obvious signals that are triggering the high spam score. It's possible that the domain has spammy code or other elements in its structure that are being detected by spam analysis tools.

One of the best money making domains I ever had was with a 81% spam score.

The most useless metric ever

Spam Score is not a ranking metric, you don't have to worry about it. Disavow the spammy links that may cause threat to your website in future once you start buiding links.

Hope you checked complete history of domains before purchasing is there is still some links passing negative SEO I suggest to remove them..

Content could be the main reason mate

After cholesterol (so called lipid panel's total cholesterol ) SPAM score is most over rated metric. :poop:

If you want to remove your spam score so you need to use google disaow tool and moz.

1st filter all spammy links via moz and make .txt file and upload in google disaow tool.
