On average how much does it cost for either a coder or non coder? I can launch a mint but no art skills.

You can launch a collection for less than $650. Prepare $10k for marketing though.

People are spending $4,000 to $13,000 USD on average to launch an NFT collection.
no they ain't.

You think people are spending $4,000 to launch those "a 0.04 SOL mint NFT collection with a supply of 700" or whatever?

that's 700 * 0.04 SOL = 28 SOL = 1.6k bucks. That's not even discounting off the minting price & shit if you are launching off another platform.
they ain't even making half of it's cost, why would you even launch.
Don't even count on the secondary royalties, how "long" will it even take at the usual 5-10% rate to make up the other 2k to break even?

Where did I suggest that this was the lowest price anyone could launch for? I didn't, so maybe take a moment to read before replying so aggressively. You can launch for basically $0.00 if you have the skills and abilities to do the work yourself and launch on Polygon or Solana.

NFT Volume in sales is by far the largest on Ethereum. Solana has a lot of trash minted and wash traded due to lower transaction costs.

I have no idea why you chose Solana and 700 as the collection size. But here are the top Solana collections on OpenSea, and you can see that 2,200 is the smallest collection size. You can see that 5,000+ is the average collection size here.

Not a single collection on Solana OpenSea Top 50 has a collection size under 1,000 items. Ethereum also has 5,000-10,000 piece collections on average.

If you are going to bring 700 into the argument, why not just launch 1 piece with 10,000 editions available? This can be done in 5 minutes for $0.01.

But that isn't what OP was asking and that isn't what I was describing.

So yes, ON AVERAGE people are spending $4,000 to $13,000 to launch an NFT collection.

If you want to launch a shit collection with 700 pieces that nobody will buy, sure you can do it for much less. If you want to produce something that can have some value to others, you should be preparing $4,000+ for a decent collection.

So how do you even know, they spent 4 to 13k to launch a NFT collection?
Do you realize, most projects will tell you, it's privy info?
Are you even connected with the foxes the degens degods the apes? Or are you just basing on their FP?
FYI
Floor price does not = mint price and does not = expenses price nor how much it cost to launch an NFT project.

So honestly, I have no idea where you pull those statistics out
But I can assure you, it all depends on your contacts and how much you are willing to spend on artwork, devs & marketing.
Everything else can be just a cut of your profits really.

Lastly,
Top Collections does not means smaller collections don't exist.

Let's keep it going
Did you know
a 100k collection and a 7k collection would cost virtually nothing more to generate, provided you had the correct number of varaitions assets possibilities?
The only thing that change would of been your profit maragin.

Did you know, it doens't matter if SOL projects are trashy or not, there are plently of ETH rugpulls too. Look at BAYC latest shitshow https://www.pastemagazine.com/tech/yuga-labs/bored-ape-yacht-club-yuga-labs-otherside-ethereum/

The fact people are able to release near-free mint collections regardless of total collection # is the fact that it doens't cost much to start a NFT collection of your own.

On average how much does it cost for either a coder or non coder? I can launch a mint but no art skills.
As for this question, I know upwork have sellers who will do NFT pfp artstyle work for under hundreds.

I know because I work in the industry. The OP is not asking about the cheapest you can do something. The OP is asking about the average. The cheaper you go, the less likely you are to have something that will be valued by outsiders. The fact that you even bring in floor price is just super weird and bizarre, makes no sense at all.

OF COURSE your own costs will depend on how much you are willing to spend. You don't have to offer your personal assurance, that is OBVIOUSLY FACTUALLY TRUE. Of course, if I am only willing to spend $10, my final costs will not be $100,000, because I am only willing to spend $10. This isn't some great insight on your behalf.

Nobody said or implied smaller collections don't exist, but the OP is asking about AVERAGES, and therefore it is almost certain they are asking about collections with 2,500 to 10,000 pieces, which is the average among people launching real collections.

What you are trying to say and tying in makes absolutely no sense.
Yeah you work in the industry, I do to, so does alot of others, nothing special there.

So have you checked on everyone's start up costs?
Let's not even go there honestly, but if you do, tell us your sources, what BAYC start up cost was?
What was OKAYBEARS start up cost? What is Gods Unchained startup costs? What is was Dogg's start up cost?
What about Decentraland? What about Axie Infinity? What about Cyberpunk or Meebits?
Bring some sources while you are at it.

Yeah don't know, then how is your average even considered?
"LETS NOT TAKE SMALL PROJECTS INTO CONSIDERATION, LETS NOT TAKE BIG PROJECTS INTO CONSIDERATION"
then tf did you take into consideration mate?
If you are speaking on your own personal experience, great. No issues there, but don't lump your experiences and stating, THIS IS THE AVERAGE.

Spending more $$ does not equal having higher "quality" nor being more "useful"
But whatever, we can agree to disagree.

You seem weirdly upset mate. Nobody here ever said or implied that spending more money definitely means higher quality or being more useful. You are making up arguments to fight against that nobody else is making. It's OK if you don't know what the OP was asking. I understood what they were asking, and I provided a useful answer to their question. You have just come in and tried to fight with me for no apparent reason. I have examined dozens of projects in depth, and been part of a few cryptocurrency projects over the last 12 months, and the number I have given is based on such.

Of course there will be many much higher, and many much lower. OP doesn't care about those. They are looking for a realistic figure based on what others are currently budgeting to launch an NFT project that has potential.

you can spend $1k as a coder/artist
you can spend $2500 as an artist or coder
you can spend $5000 and get code and art done for you
you can buy $10k turnkey with minimal marketing.
Now that it is made...
marketing, sales and fulfillment of utility/liquidity/drops
consider creative commissions (both in sales effects/profit variability by % set)
and post sales fulfillment as well.
There are also pricing/reach considerations on mint coin base choice as well. (eth vs poly etc)
There is also "lazy minting" but it may inconvenience some buyers.

On Ethereum, the most popular host for NFTs, or blockchain, you can mint an NFT for as little as $70, according to Nerds Chalk. The Art Newspaper reports that other cryptocurrency analysts believe minting a digital artwork NFT can cost as little as $70 to $100.

So... @fofstetter it depends.

What experience and skills do you have that would relate to your NFT idea?
I was in web dev many years ago working with html, css,js, php. Mostly the skills have been used customizing WP themes for my websites XD. Now back updating skillset on web 3. I was tinkering with launching a trial collection on opensea and a minting website which was super easy and straight forward. Since I'm not an artist I'm thinking of launching a real project.

P.S thanks to all replies. For the negative energy about NFTs there are here to stay, whether people are stupid or not buying gifs it's not the point but the new dawn of the web unfolding in front of our eyes.

Don't forget the most important part of the scam, sell the art to yourself multiple times first so people think it's worth anything.

Good point. An authority wallet policy clearly spelled out (and followed) to satisfy the tax man and to separate yourself from such nonsense. If your contract falls under a security act it could be fraud ;)

This MIGHT not be an extra price tag, but "doing your own homework" also comes at a cost.
