Next time you will not use Google before visiting doctor

...so that the Doctor falls sick and understands the symptoms better :smirk:

Doctors really do hate this tho lol. I even say with a wink "I saw on webMD". Think about it. If you are an expert in anything you realize that google and most the of the net is wrong about it.

Yes it's true if you wanna build rapport with your doctor it's good to subtely joke about these people.

Though they may be biased against new studies like use of psychedelics for mental disease for example which is not their job to be up to date on those matters

I agree with @foghorn, as a hypochondriac I can say doctors absolutely hate when you try to self-diagnose. That's probably why they've got that sign posted :D

When I was younger, my health anxiety got so bad at one point my primary care physician told me she was going to put me on the "crazy list" if I kept wasting her time. Glad I eventually grew out of it lol.

The internet provides information. The doctor does not, or very limited, probably biased too.

You get an STD, say HPV, you go to 3 urologists to 3 different hospitals, and each tells you that you need to get circumcised.

They just wanna take your money by performing an unnecessary surgery (mutilation) on you. Of course, its routine to them. And in the end they havent solved your problem at all.

You go online, dig dig dig, get information, understand your condition, decide what to do about it. Maybe you dont get a circumcision, maybe 1,5 year passes by and the HPV goes away.

Then 10 years go by and you never had HPV again (im talking genital warts). So you didnt need a circumcision after all.

The doctor wont tell you that, but the internet will, if youre willing to dig for it and find it.

Doctors are useful. Maybe in your research you learned about causterization and you needed a doctor to burn off the genitsl warts. Maybethe warts came back, so a few months later you got them burned off again. Okay, we need a doctor now, but not to tell us what to do, but for us to tell him what to do.

Anyway, careful with the doctors. Theyll put you in an early grave for money, due to ignorance, carelessness, incompetence, ego, and so on and so forth.

The internet is the only chance you have for truth. Of course, less of a chance every day because of censorship and "fake news" that are dangerous and must be removed from the internet.

While ago I had some weird symptoms.

Went to google, read all I could, was sure I was dying.

Went to the doctor, did exams, sat 4 hours waiting for the verdict.

He said you got nothing, just change your diet and exercise more.

(EDIT Yes I told him I thought I was dying because of what I read online. He said everyone goes there says same. LOL)

Doctor doesn't really know bro.

RIP you will be missed bro :D

He should go to another doctor for a second opinion

No that won't help. They all went to the same skeewls, they know the same stuff, they attend the same seminars, and they're chained by the same laws and regulations.

You've seen one you've seen them all...

The internet though, it's all there, you just need a shovel and a brain.

How can you be a member of this community and still not realize why you see every result you get on google? It's not because its good info... The top results for any symptom you google says you are dying. One time I was in a doctors waiting room and says this poster that said if you feel this way you probably have this. I asked the doctor later and she said," Those posters are designed to sell drugs, everyone is dying according to them". Kinda like how if you google anything about the stock market, the advice is always to either buy or sell now. It's because if you don't tell people to buy and sell now, you won't get any stock like advertisers. The internet is a scam 90% of time...

Yeah but the first results of google is like putting on your shoes when you go running. It's a start, but won't get you anything in and of itself.

You see I mentioned shovel?

If you want the truth, you have to work for it. You have to research, read conversations, go deep, go on forums, find other people that talked about the same issue online, read 10 year old forum discussions, watch videos, read scientific papers, DYOR DYOR DYOR. You gotta go deep, and you may get lucky and get to the truth.

Your doctor? A drop in the bucket. Sometimes a drop in the bucket may do it, but in most cases you're undergoing unnecessary procedures and substandard care and getting bad or no advice as to what to do after. And you most certainly won't learn anything about your condition/issue.
