Hey everyone,

I honestly did not expect my first day on BHW to turn into something like this, but I feel it is important to share what happened, especially for other newcomers.
Yesterday was my very first day here. I was excited, motivated, and genuinely happy to finally start this journey. I made a post requesting help with data scraping for real estate agent services, hoping to connect with someone experienced or potentially work together.

Not long after, I received a private message suggesting we continue the conversation on Telegram. The discussion there was actually very good. It was productive, detailed, and felt professional. We talked through the approach, timelines, and how the project would be put together. It genuinely felt like the start of something solid.

I agreed to pay a small deposit to get things moving. It was 50 USDC. The conversation did not stop after the payment. He continued responding and even later messaged me offering additional services through one of his friends on BHW for Google Ads, which I was also interested in.
A few hours later, I opened Telegram and saw that all of our messages had been deleted and his last seen showed “a long time ago,” which usually means I was blocked. At that point, it became clear what had happened.

What hurts is not the 50 USDC. I can accept that loss. What hurts more is the trust built during what felt like a genuinely productive conversation and the excitement of thinking something real was about to be built. Losing that on my very first day was discouraging.
I joined BHW because it appears to be a tight knit and genuinely helpful community with a lot of serious and knowledgeable people. Experiencing something like this right away was unexpected and unfortunate.

I am not posting this to cause drama or attack anyone. I simply wanted to share my experience and remind other new members, especially beginners like myself, to be extremely cautious.

Thanks for reading.

This is not your first day on the forum.

You registered on September of last year.

There are.many scammers on the internet
I understand how you feel though, one could loose trust in the entire system just like the scammer who has no proper live to leave

Unfortunately I don't have the list you looking for ,so would have given it for free to offset the loss

What you will now need to do is to make sure you are buying from

a paid member
Who you can see with lots of filtering to be contributing to this community
And has a sales thread providing the service you need or who has proof that they can provide such a service for you
You can also go a step further using a. Escrow if you feel the person can't be trusted

This is not exhausive but its gives you a bit of a model to follow in buying your next service anywhere on the internet

This is really good advice and good to know. I really appreciate that!

Is there somewhere I can read more about these escrow services?

Live and learn. That's not a life altering amount but it will result in you being extra cautious next time.

Stick with reputable people and always verify you are not talking to a fake account. Scammers can be smart, imagine if they put that into something productive. THey would get somewhere haha

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, this can happen when conversations and payments move off-platform too quickly. For new members, it’s usually safer to keep communication on BHW and use escrow or trusted sellers with feedback. Hopefully your post helps others stay cautious.

Never take your conversations out of BHW.

Unfortunate, but there are a few bad apples in every bunch. Hope you'll have better experiences in the future.
