Hello all, I'm just looking for maybe a basic guideline on what would be quickest method to start seeing returns? I have web hosting already, and a few hundred bucks to play with. I think I have the knowledge to start doing this on my own, but I don't have a lot of money to spare, and I want to make sure I don't spend it needlessly. My plans are to create an affiliate tools features and comparison type page and boosting it on Google. Is this a good place to start? If so, is there anything I should be aware of through this process, or should I try to start in another area? Thank you for any advice you can share.

I think you're making fun of me, maybe cause I posted it in the wrong area, or maybe cause I'm a noob, but I'm just going to pretend that you're telling me that there's money in all directions, and I'll thank you for your response. Thank you sir.

Nothing malicious.

Just read through the forum and you’ll find the information you seek. No one will spoon feed you.

Do a lot of research before plunging into anything too, because you wouldn’t want to waste a year of your life for minimal returns

He gave you the best answer, pick and follow one road.

This 'industry' has so many ways to generate money. Most people end up with 1-2 roads, some more experienced can drive 5+ 10+ different sources of income.

But to start, you should check other marketers journeys and see if anything makes sense to you on here:

And also check making money forum for some methods:

And don't think that this is something better or more easier than 9to5 job. It can be very hard and frustrating.

Good luck.

I'm not looking for easy money, I want lots of money no matter how long it takes me, and no matter how many hours of my life I spend doing it. I've done a 9-5 job for 23 years and it will never get me the things I want from life. I first made money at affiliate marketing in 1997 when I was 16, (I'm 39 now) my first website was a porn site, the affiliate was AdultCheck. I had copyrighted material on my site, actually my whole site was copyrighted material, the internet was a free for all back then, you could get away with that for quite a while, long story short, I received an e-mail asking about the material, I got scared, deleted everything and I was unable to figure out another way, that and the internet starting to become more secure, and my methods for getting free hosting were disappearing quick. Anyhow, it's always eaten at me inside that I made money at one of the first affiliate programs that existed, but couldn't figure out another way after that, and I've tried again over the years with mild success, and recently I decided to get to the bottom of this, and I ended up finding this place. I just wanted to let you know what I'm about. I know this isn't a get rich quick without doing anything scheme, but I also know that promoting it as such is great way to make a lot of money off lazy asses looking for handouts. The first response with the picture of the sign is actually pretty funny, and it's honestly about what I was expecting, I'm sure you guys deal with people all the time poking around and asking dumb questions, wasting peoples time, looking for an exact explanation on how to become rich. I apologize if I came across like that, and I've been reading this forum morning noon and night since I found it, and my problem is not that I haven't been trying to do the research, I just think I have everything so jumbled in my head right now, and I'm a little too eager to get started. My problem is that if I can prove this makes money in less than 2 months, it doesn't have to make me much, but I can convince a friend to lend me money to cover my mortgage for a little while, so that I don't have to go back to work, and I can just focus on this. That's why I just wanted to know what brings the quickest returns, no matter how small, I just need quick, and if one of you guys could let me know that, I'd be extremely grateful. By the way, I've been putting together a page of various affiliate marketing tools with brief descriptions and price comparisons. So I am working on something, and looking forward to sharing it when it's ready to see where I can improve it. Anyhow, thanks to anyone who read the whole thing.

You ain't kidding. The stuff I've learned in the past few days has boggled my mind on how complex the game has become, and the extents that are being taken to gain minuscule advantages over the competition. You can't stand out with two different font sizes and a horizontal rule anymore. hahaha

I learned on BHW that people aren't going to tell you their secrets, but they'll tell you if you're on the right track *Shrug*

I really appreciate everything guys. I'm a certified mechanic, and did a 4 year apprenticeship, and in 23 years I went from a kid who forgets to put your oil cap back on, to one of the most well known performance mechanics in my city, and now I feel like I'm beginning another apprenticeship, and I will master this too if it takes another 23 years. Having a place where I can be mentored, where people can tell me when I'm off the path before I lose my ass is more than I could've hoped to find.

What you have suggested in your op would take years (1-2) to bring some type of considerable return. You need to write articles and build backlinks continuously until you start ranking for top positions, even that is not guaranteed as with everything in business, especially online business.

Affiliate sites and anything dependent on SEO is not playing the quick game. Browse the forum and see what is trending, what you can profit off of, and what fits your criteria of quick returns.

I understand this is not the type of answer you hoped to get, but it is the one leading you closer to what you are trying to do. Me saying do this and do that would not lead you anywhere because you may not be having the skills, time, courage, belief, and many other necessities to make that certain method or business work.

Short and simple, browse the forum, pick what you think fits you the best (trust me, there is a ton of that here), and take responsibility for your wins and losses along the way.

Good luck.

Trust me, I appreciate any advice that anyone is willing to give. I obviously got a little too excited at first, I was hoping to not have to go back to a 9-5 job, but it's clear that 2 months isn't enough time to do much, so I'll have to go back to work and just work on this in the evenings. But it would be nice to put something together so that I don't have to work a job in maybe 5 years. I think I just need to stay off this forum for a couple days and let everything sink in before I even start to think of what direction I decide to go. Thanks for your advice.
