Newbie Journal: Less thinking, more doing.

Right. You have to take action. I created a thread on that which is called "Big mistakes you should avoid".
Maybe it is worth reading. I wish you all the best in achieving your goal.

Start your engines!

Well, I am finally back! Thanks for your patience everyone. I have received a few keywords from The Keyword Shoppe and have picked one for a trial run. The details are as follows...

5,400 exact searches/month
70,900 competing pages
55 Google results pages
25,300 intitle
11,100 inurl
9,030 in both.
49 cent/click average Adsense

So, I don't think I'll be buying my beach house in Malibu from this keyword, but as I've said before this is all about learning. Once I know what the heck I'm doing then I can target the big dollar niches.

Top 10 pages... (can't post links yet).

I have purchased the exact-match-domain.com. Had to go with the hyphens option as all the others were taken. Had a quick read about hyphens in domains and it looks like people get too excited about the supposed negative impact of them. The official line from Google is that they are simply word separators and don't help or harm rank.

I still have a WordpressDirect trial account so will run the site through that.

Coming next... content!

Actually, I changed my mind about using Wordpress Direct. The trial only supports one blog at a time and I figure I should learn how to install and run a WP blog now anyway. So far it's not too hard!

The blog is up and running, and even have a keyword relevant theme- check me out :18:.

I have a Twitter account up and will automatically tweet my posts through that via dlvr.it.

I have contacted a BHW member regarding creating some articles.

Once I have content on the main site I will create some Web 2.0 sites.

After that I will start experimenting with ScrapeBox and decide if AMR would be a worthwhile purchase.

Question: What Wordpress plugins should I install and how important/useful are they?

I have installed AddToAny, Google Analytics and SEO Ultimate so far.

I've placed an order for 25 x 500 word articles from a seller here on BHW. A review will follow. Whilst I wait for it to arrive, here's an awesome post about the best way to spin an article...

I use a few various methods:
Generally I manually write 1 article, (usually academic journal worthy, if you don't have the education to do this you probably will have issues trying)

I then create 10 replacement sentences, all equivalent to the sentence before using totally different sentence structures etc
For instance:
Decades of research has provided only vacant, easily dismissible evidence on the effects of <keyword>. turns into "The evidence acquired so far through medical research has correlated only loosely with <keyword>" turns into "Though some research has offered results of statistical significance, the data is by no means overwhelming concerning <keyword>'s beneficial effects."
Obv after that you use your thesaurus + spinnerchief (or if you bought bestspinner) to spin the words into REAL EQUIVALENTS!!!!!! DO not use crappy synonyms.

evidence is not synonymous with "testament"

You're effectively writing 10 articles, but you can turn them into 1000, with a 97-98% unique rating, no editing necessary, and will be autoapproved at even the most "unique content" nazi sites (or anywhere where your category fits in).

Obv you cannot buy articles to do this properly (or really to have any legit success with articles in general)

Thanks Expertpeon!

useful WP plugins:
google xml sitemaps
yet another related post plugin

find them both free on wordpress. org

but careful not to overload your site with too many plugins as you could slow down your site and / or they could cause conflict with each other. but there are many useful plugins out there that can help you along the way.

best of luck :)
