New site SEO strategies

So I'm launching a new site in adult. In adult we have to buy backlinks. I haven't launched a site in adult since 2012 so a long time and things were a lot different back then. I read that Google sandboxes sites for a while. Is this true? If so does that mean it's pointless buying backlinks for the first few months? I was thinking about buying guest posts and homepage backlinks

Is it worth doing that when site is brand new?

Check your competitors activities like which keywords they are targeting, Where are they sharing their posts and getting links. Try to replicate them.
