New Panda Refresh Today!?! My rankings have returned

I watch my stats go up and in 3 days bottom out then go up BUT i noticed somthing after the last update the stats are now going in reverse start off in the low position then pushing up to a high position. Here is what i cannot figure out what update needs to be refreashed? A update never needs to be refreashed unless there was a flaw...

well, google refreshes panda and penguin to catch new sites violating whatever they are targeting and also to allow sites out of the net if they fix their ways...

It is going to be kinda fun in the next 2 weeks if my numbers are right all signs says we should have a good week or 2.

Arghhh!! Now EBAY is ranking no.1 for a SEARCH RESULTS page (?q=hinged+widgets) - I beat them out a YEAR ago!

Actually, I suspect Google is testing bounce rates or something, looks like everyone is going to get a go at no. 1. Let's just hope my site wins in the end :D. Just like the Google dance, only this is the Penguin Dance.

Heres my take and honestly im no seo god. But im thinking this maybe whats going on.

1. Google has never had "EYES" they cant distinguish a page from another other than stats. They cant tell a page has well written content or spun content without their fingerprinting system. They used backlinks as a basic feeler to see ok page a...has 6 backlinks where page b has 20. So page b is going to rank #1 because of more backlinks. World is great everything is good, look at all the relevant searches. People sniffed that out and started to manipulate. Boom seo spam in a sense.

2. Now google is doing what I call Experiment update. Where lets call it this "search term a" is like a street. They can litterally see how long a person drives down a street...how long the pull into a place. How long they stayed in that place. If analytics is installed onto where they clicked, what they did and even if they purchased. How many results they went to and so on.

Now they shake up everything to experiment b. Same "search term a" now they watch results and happiness. Wow now this page is rank well, less drive time, more visit time and more purchases. Ok now experiment B is better guess who wins top serp results. The site with the best content, longest visit, most page clicks and conversions...as well mixing in backlinks, if they find your copying stuff, not, using easily catchable spun content...too much of specific anchor...unnatural crap...too much all at once...etc

I feel this is how google finally gets there real "eyes" by monitoring social results...until they get top results. So you better make sure your site is like matt has been saying. Real results, real content, thats readable, that has images, videos, social links and more. Right on page seo etc etc. All to maximize everything as well.

If its my guess. Penguin is an experiment update. Just like webmasters do to see the results since they cant come up with an algo that can literally read a page and understand it like a human....so now they shake up the board and watch what we do.

So rest easy in your skills apply them and do things really clean onsite and you will win.

Yeah, it totally makes sense that they do stuff like that. We may see the search results being much more fluid in the future. I have seen this happen before too, even though I don't think it was a Panda/Penguin or any other update. Maybe they do it for keywords that have ambiguous meanings, or where there is no other clear signals on what page/site to rank. * SHRUG * Who knows. But what you say about real content that engages users, blah blah is fine, from a white-hat point of view of course :) I mean, to be honest I am finding white-hat much easier and more stable right now - damn' Google, seems like they got what they want! Honestly, if I am making money and not doing too much work I could not care less!

Page 2 today for some of my dream words!!! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Just to update on this, my EMD, the one with heavy AMR and exact-match anchor backlinks (and a shedload of M**t Lac*** links to an inner page - yeah, I know, I know) slipped a couple of times over the past few days, from page 3 to page 7 to page 13 and this morning I can't find it in the top 700 results. SEOSERPS isn't working, so I don't know if it is even in the top 1000.

So despite the fact there have been no announcements from Google of any new refreshes, updates of some sort are always going on as my site continues to plummet, without other major changes on page 1 that I can see. Reminder: this site was at no. 1 for a year, so this is not some dance, it's an obvious penalty, not just a link devaluation - though there are some common traits with the "old" Google Dance, since I can see most of my inner pages in the top 10 pages, including the "links" page, outranking my homepage.

I suppose by analogy with the "old Google" I can but hope that this is one of those 3-month penalties or something (no "unnatural links" warning received) and one fine day I will wake up to see my homepage return to page one, but as you can imagine I won't be holding my breath for that :)

Hey,

Is your site still ranking?

And did you ever send a reconsideration request?

Thanks for sharing this thread.
