New Google Updates - Dec 11

On the real time, i see a slight increase in traffic. However we only will know for sure in a week or so.

I saw the spike on december 4th and decided to do a little optimization and make some new content, let's keep our fingers crossed.

@bartosimpsonio any update about this and most importantly how did you miss this lol

I'm on a heavy project right now so I'm not watching logs lately.

I sniff updates by watching googlebot behavior but it requires time.

Its too early to speak about what is this update, but we can tell what's going on with our website sites. Maybe he is trying to understand.

No I really did miss this one. I just read about it here.

They need money, they push everyone toward ads!

It became impossible for any mediuem website to have the same rankings for over a year, always shuffling the results

And from 2015 to 2019, position 1 in serps seen average decrease in traffic 51% thanks to serps features + 4 ads withe their extentions 3 headings and 2 descriptions + people ask and sometime youtube videos

Number 1 in searches now is actually 7 or 8!

If no ones comes as competitor to google, then, everyone will have to move to adwords sooner or later! I know I did

You surrendered?

I think Google no longer uses any algorithm at all, but instead is flipping a coin. Even if you flip a coin 10 times, you won't have 50/50 chances. Google is gambling and the shitty thing is that they own the casino.

You might be joking but for certain searches it's quite the CUIL.

Words with ambiguous or multiple meanings depending on context are a mess, especially in google images.

This is the state of play in 2019 and going forward.

For those who say they cannot rank on page 1, this is the competition;

What's the latest stats on zero click searches? Last I heard it was over 51%.

51% of all Google's traffic stays in Google and never reaches the sites that created the content they show on the SERPs.

50% of crypto websites are garbage whose only way of monetizing is by selling people with little to no understanding of GRQ schemes. So no surprise they got hammered. The only surprise is that it was only 50% and not 99% :D A ton of white-hat traditonal medicine sites also suffered in June, should I also be asking them if they think it's fair?

CCN got hit, as well as other big ones. It's not about quality, it's about ads $$$.

Funny though the big crypto sites that got hit made a big fuss about it on social media and they got reinstated..... Was this done manually?

@bartosimpsonio hey can you please guide how I can do the same, sniffing updates as per the google behavior.

Lucky for them only 2 ads! They should be 4 normally

The bigger problem the top results don't have the same size (serps real estate) like the organic results.

Ads can have shitload of extensions and features

Feature snippet can be anything from a map to a table or an image with full description or playable video! Whatever answers the query can be there.

The people ask for is a toggle with many questions, and the more toggles you open, the more toggles you get! Its obvious these updates solely purpose is to push organic results down!

I have no idea who will scroll down all of this to reach the organic results. I can't remember last time I did.. unless I am looking for long informational blog post from ahrefs or something, the answer of my query is top there!

Again, unless a proper competitors appear, this would be the End of SEO as we know it and this is why I am investing in ads @bartosimpsonio

Its just a business, I spent years of effort, time, and money for building pbn, survivng updates, creating content, promoting videos, and building a brand but it seems each year my traffic + conversion decreases.

Why fighting the flow instead of swimming with it? All you need is paying google the fee to pass and you magically are on the TOP.. no need for content, bl's or worrying about updates ..you gotta make some money before the end of affiliates era

Don't forget google shopping too, that takes up real estate space.

Not giving up on SEO, but it does seem that it's getting harder and harder with each passing day :(

Nah I was doing outreach in crypto websites and the pattern was clear - many of those websites got hit June and basically none in this niche get boost in traffic - the traffic moved to more traditional news outlets, but in September many of them recovered, not just the big ones. By the way CCN did not recover despite making the biggest fuss so most definitely wasn't because of that or manually.

I think they mentioned they roll out about 200 updates per year, so it's kind of a daily thing.
But since I'm super white-hat on most of my projects, I only see things go up, which is nice.

Lol, yeah, until it happens to you. I don't think any of the most recent updates have anything to do with white hat vs black hat.

Really annoyed with these every other week updates. The only solution remains is just give up ranking it for first page. Make websites, do some basic seo and if you get lucky it will be on first page whenever the update occurs.

CCN didn't recover but The Block got a enormous boost. I know others who did too.

In september one of my clients who has a crypto site recovered a bit indeed but nothing compared to first half of 2019. I think Google demoted that niche by hand.

It's not something you teach. Sit your ass on a PC doing IM for 20something years and you'll catch the drift.

It is true that there is an ongoing algorithm update. I saw more traffic to my site than in the past few days. Hope things will work better.

I'm on the Internet & Telecom sector, I'm starting to see positive rankings.
