New Google Update On The Way?

Travel - All whitehat, good links etc, fresh content, aged domain and all the good stuff. Was some dancing around Dec and then, wham, 3rd page.

My site went from the first/second page to almost nowhere for most of my keywords when it was hit by Medic update :).

Since then I've been working on it to get it back!

It will come back more powerfully!

but didn't find any magic happened in this Jan update. Maybe wasn't lucky this time.

This makes sense. I saw a 30% drop in traffic on my largest site pretty much overnight Sunday. I figured it was from the U.S. Government shutdown scaring the fuck out of consumers. I guess not!

Word of advice to new people who haven't experience a big update before: just keep doing what you were doing. Don't make any drastic changes for a few weeks. It'll all sort out.

Yep that is sound advice. Updates can scare the he'll out of ya if you've never experienced then. Add content. Keep working and don't panic!

I figured. My posts are moving up above all my competitors even among the top dawgs. #winning

Sort of depends on what you were doing before. If you had a long term strategy of adding quality content and links, then sure, keep it steady. If you had crap content and were throwing tons of links at it, then probably time to reassess. Throwing increasingly large numbers of links at the problem in these situations rarely helps, in my experience.

Mate, this is the best advice any PRO can give! (Y)

This is actually where I failed my site when it was hit by Medic update. After getting hit, I changed almost all of my site content and even lost the remaining rankings as well!

:D

This is so awkward. Suddenly 8 out of the 10 search results on Page 1 for my Keyword are YouTube videos. All of the sudden. Last week no single YT video on page 1, now 80%. What the heck is going on Google. I am still ranking #1, but it pushes my inner pages to page 2.

I noticed an increase in YouTube videos and then they moved off again to push everything back where it was. Hopefully they will shift for you.

My all sites performing normally from last 5 days so not sure if there is an update.

Hit me big time. Top 10 ranking pages are now on page 2 -3.

content original, long, over 1500 words. Established website with good links no PBN. No idea whats going on.

I dont know whether to add more content, increase KW density or wait it out.

Hey Rita - times are difficult on Corrie streer heh? ;-) I would wait it out. Add a couple more posts to get some fresh content on and wait. It seems to be affecting folk at different times/days and it took a few days for me to get back to page 1.

Well, the site had been hit by the November update. Rankings then improved and then in January been a complete nightmare.
This is a commercial site, very old with landing pages been ranking in top 10 for over two years. No idea whats going on.

Ta-ra chuck! :)

Aye up! So this is what I did on a similar commercial, long standing and complete white-hat site:

I added a couple of new blogs posts (thousand words each with pics - usual seo good practice stuff really)

I double checked the speed of the site and especially so for mobile (I am sure something is going n with G and the mobile friendliness of sites - regardless of what people say about ignoring speed tests).

I noticed that all the ranking sites were starting to show post/page images - such as the Featured Image in wordpress and especially the ALT image text.

Checked in case any spammy links had appeared - but none.

Sat back and watched it go up and down and then settle on page 1 again. Breathed and drank wine.

I am sure you have prob got all these covered but just sharing just in case there is anything useful for ya.

Sithee!
