New Google Update On The Way?

Yea, it definitely surprised me. In the last 3 years, this site hasn't been affected by a single major update. It's just been trucking along and killing it.
Have you been building links to it last months?

Google have made it into a habit to shuffle the rankings around every couple of months

It's an unnatural link building penalty, you will receive a message in google webmaster shortly
yes its good if they provide message confirmation, so we can start over it. thanks for the response.

It has got to do with INTENT. And that's why while unnatural link building is getting pulled up by Google, natural link building is getting rewarded.
I dont know how Google can measure intent. By intent you mean bots differentiating between natural and unnatural link building. In that case, i have seen numerous cases where natural links got penalty. Example, one of my client did a product launch at a government start up conference. They got massive visibility and 3 direct links from .gov websites and 20 odd links from huge newspaper brands. Also, they had overnight listing in wikipedia. A month later google gave the dreaded unnatural link penalty. After all, google is also a bot

Wooah, that's bad news. But seeing as though their algorithm isn't very good at picking up unnatural links (although getting better), then it makes sense they're also prone to judging some natural links as unnatural.

How do you check if you have google manual penalty without having google search console and analytics enabled? I have a network of about 800 sites so it's nearly impossible to set it up on all of them without drawing a map for google of my network or setting up 800 different accounts which will also be a huge red flag.

If there's an API for third party apps, you should set that up in one account and access search console or analytics through a single app. To decrease the risk of google knowing this, you can make the app server more random websites than your own.

If you can enable it under 800 accounts then that's the best methodology. Get a VA to do it for you. If not, you will hand out the network to google on a platter.

Chances are the api will definitely leave traces, after all you are using an intermediary app for access which can keep any data that you are asking and it is fetching

Google is not that thorough. The point is the app api is also designed to be used by third party services(analytics etc), so it would be insane for them to take those traces into consideration. Or maybe create 5 apps and balance along accounts with random websites that are not your own.
