New Google Update January 2020

Apparently primary kw's are getting less traffic and pages related to them or linked to them are getting a traffic boost since yesterday.

Some are saying that its roll back to the phase when it was in Nov & Dec. But I beg to differ with them. SERP's changes, that's not new when an update rolls out. But its the behavior of the user which I am having a hard time to understand here, has changed to a peculiar manner.

Guys, the crawling is still a huge damn mess. One of my websites has around 200 pages/posts. All of them unique and handwritten with a decent length.
I just "site:website.com" my website and only 20% of the posts are indexed...and not even this. Also stuff like this shows up:

wtf is this about?

My site has all of the sudden indexed pages I deleted over 6 months ago, which are now just 404 pages.. Odd for sure.

All I am wondering is who messed up so badly at Google? Some intern pulled some plugs? Its just so ridiculous

my websites were immediately affected by this update. There's a big hit fall. I hope it gets better

No some senior official with "Know it all" behavior. Who thinks that they can shove anything to the end user.

One of my sites that lost 29 positions (1st to 30th) from this update today went back in great position: 2nd! I've changed only the Title of the homepage (removed big keyword and used a creative one).

Once google cached new title the site recovered. Amazing

Very interesting! without mentioning your keyword, can you use another word and tell us before and after of your title.

I do have noticed similar improvement by changing my title.

another question: it seems that you did not SUBMIT your site for reindexing. you just allowed to come and index it by itself and notice the new title. correct? it seems that google does not like it when you manually submit your site for indexing in google search console. would like to see others thought on this.

@bartosimpsonio - you thoughts on this?

This is why I don't use Google Search Console at all, it just kinda proves to Google that you're into SEO. I also feel like people who do use it get manual penalized more often *foilhat on*

Since they made officially announced it , i thinks this update is final. they wouldn't announced it if it still in process

more and more I am coming to the same conclusion. in particular manually submitting a page for reindexing.

Yeah - I've never had a manual penalty and I go really blackhat/obvious linkbuilding, meanwhile I hear people get hit left and right with a less blackhat approach. Sure, it might not be GSC, but.. yeah, if I were Google I'd look into those sites first as they clearly are into SEO. But again, I don't have any proof of this, but I'll stick to what has worked for me.

Fuck I just realized as I'm typing this that the only two sites of mine (out of 20+) that got hit in the September/October and December updates actually had GSC (I had to use it on these 2 since they wouldn't get reindexed by itself)...

Could be a coincidence but.. yeah.

Not sure if it's part of the update but all search results for me are now showing icons in the SERP... never had them before..

Kind of another way to know how branding is important ...

time to do some reading..

At my side > all good! no traffic lost

Ouch! This must really suck.

Mine was recovering gradually from the November update but suddenly started going under just a few days ago.
I'm hoping for recovery because I'm careful with link building. I'm focused on content. 300 articles and 360k words.
But no one knows. Will see.
