Hey guys, I know there's been a few different threads on the new keyword planner - how it sucks, how it's great, how it takes some getting used to...I noticed a few different things, and I wanted to get input on whether you guys felt the same, whether I was doing something wrong, and whether anyone had any advice they could offer? Wondering if anyone has any instructions on how to use this new tool most efficiently, would even be willing to pay a small price. I was able to use the old tool to it's fullest, I loved it. And now I'm a little lost, here's why:
As soon as the new Keyword Planner was available, I started using it, figuring I would have to get used to it eventually anyway. I really like it because I feel you are better able to organize information. This was a few weeks ago. For the last week however, I have groups of keywords that I analyze, that I feel are now showing a lot less "number of results" than when it first came out a few weeks ago, and of course a lot less than the original adwords tool.
For example, I search car repairs in nj ... I get something like 70 searches per month (this may not be exact, I'm just giving an example). I know for a fact that this was a lot different before. Is it because before it was giving us a broad number of search queries, and now it's exact? I don't know, I'm really confused honestly.
I also noticed that you can narrow down WHERE The search queries come from, as to what state, what region, and sometimes which town. This is extremely useful, BUT sometimes google decides to not let me save the list of locations I added, and I have to start from scratch. I also can't save this for future use.
The biggest issue for me, though, is that I feel the number of search queries that the keyword planner is giving, is far less than it actually is. I put:
"auto repair nj" : 70 searches per month
"auto repair new jersey" : 30 searches per month
"car repair nj" 20
"car repair new jersey" 10
"car service repair nj": 0
"car service repair new jersey" : 0
"auto service repair new jersey" :0
"auto repair service" : 590
"auto repair service nj" 0
"auto repair service new jersey": 0
I understand not everything is going to be hundreds, but 0 for those terms seems a little strange to me. Especially because if I Do the search there are plenty of other related searches almost exactly the same, and also paid adwords for this term (I know this are triggered by many different factors, but really).
Let me know what you guys think, any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated. I'm willing to invest the time to learn this tool as well as I can and then help anyone out with what I know. I did a few searches on here concerning this tool, but what I'm looking for is some clear feedback, instruction, or maybe even to see if anyone else has noticed the same trends I have?
Thanks guys, good luck with all your endeavors!
