New Domain vs Expired Domain

Go for a relevant expired domain. I'm sure you can find one, just have patience.

Can confirm that. Bought an non relevant domain for a site and although the site is only 3 weeks old, has 4 articles on it and no new backlinks build, I had close to 10 organic visits on long tails. I doubt that would've been possible with a fresh 3 week old domain. Initial rankings for my bigger keywords does not look that bad as well.

Been doing it for a couple years and all fine. Same for my clients who decided to go with unrelated stuff. Maybe it's a dice roll, but in that case I had to got super lucky. How many domains have you tried it with?

More than a few, some had 500+ referring domains from relevant sites and were in the exact same niche or a very similar niche, didn't do that well, and the non relevant ones did very bad. Fresh domains with 0 history did best.

The 'repurposing' used to work well 2~years ago for me, but nowadays I stick with newly registered ones.

I am currently doing a mix, if i can find somewhat relevant old domains, i will go for it. Otherwise i go for keyword rich brand new domain. In terms of rankings i think there may be 3-4 months delay but in long run new domain would be much better as it will be more relevant to niche.
