Hello,

I'm a newbie started my own small business in IT. What's the best way to market my business locally? I really apologize but I'm fairly new to SEO and email marketing world and I would really appreciate any guidance. I have created a website for my business. What's the next step to get notified in the local community with small budget?

Thanks,
Pyraxic

1. read

5. read between the lines
6. make connections & contacts

well about local :
1. classifieds
2. expos & events networking
3. yellow pages
4. webmasters & marketers of your community get in touch and communicate and stay among them ... there will be joint ventures appear
5. try to go to local communities not in web business but into some businesses and help them with your free advices and even you not offer directly peopel will want to hire you
6. be polite friendly and know how to ask for your money

What sort of a business did you start?

Is it a product of some sort or a service?

Find out how much it will cost you for your services (work + time), then see how much you can profit on it. Backlink like crazy, setup social networking accounts, and see where you are.

if i were you i'd outsource seo/marketing and focus on the core of the biz

set up a listing in

Yelp
citysearch
local.yahoo
manta
merchant circle

then go out and put in some craigslist ads

that should help get you going

If you're looking for something like that, the best thing to do is footwork. I knew someone who freelanced as a consultant and had over 300 clients. Do some google research on the businesses you are interested in targeting, stop by and introduce yourself.

He said the best business he got was by giving out refrigerator magnets with his business info on it, believe it or not. If it works, great. If it doesn't, you've lost about $.25 . Just a thought.

I would advertise offline - get small business info and send them letters

I found this thread though search and noticed that its from years ago. Pvraxic, could you tell me what worked and what didn't?
I started a local residential service and looking to gain customers, but my budget is whatever I have left from my paycheck so Its incredibly small.

I would not mess around and get a well known SEO agency to promote your project
look in your area for the best local seo companies
good luck
