Neil Patel's Search Everywhere Optimization [Serious Conversation]

I know most of what he talks about is common sense, but it had me thinking that instead of approaching every tactic just for Google, since that is only 27 percent of the pie, it's wise to go after other segments as well.

I know a lot of SEO packages focus on Google, but since Reddit, Amazon, and TikTok shops are gaining momentum, is it wise to branch out? Also, AI chat is something to rank for itself, as people are using it regularly, too.

I like to see everyone's thoughts on this............

Sometimes diversifying the traffic means losing the targeted users.

Google still dominates, but search habits are changing now a days. People now look for answers on TikTok, Reddit, and even Amazon. With AI chatbots rising, diversifying makes sense. Prioritize the platforms your audience actually uses.

Yes and No, the first two things you find when you search are ChatGPT and Reddit, so you have to adapt to the new wave of technology and understand that people are not just relying on Google for all their decision-making.

It's always wise to branch out! A-L-W-A-Y-S! It doesn't get more common sense than that. However, when you go after Google, most of the time you get some productive collateral as well and not all platforms are worth the effort. But it's a good rule of thumb to assume that there is always somebody making a killing on any platform which has traction.

I can understand Chatgpt and Reddit but how do you rank on Amazon without a product?

I was giving an example of ecom, as it's mostly safe to say that affiliate sites are getting crushed at the moment.

Google generative AI picks up mostly from UGRs and PRs (brand related AI searches)
OpenAI picks up brands mostly from UGRs too (brand related AI searches)

Additionally pages like cruchbase, knowledge panel and sites like Zoominfo are good for brand related AI searches

For services, both local and low hanging kws Reddit helps pick up information followed by any user generated content, then PR

Focusing only on Google limits reach, so tapping into other search platforms where your audience spends time can bring more traffic and sales.

I think it's definitely smart to start branching out (I know I am). AI (Gemini, GPT, Copilot, even Reddit AI hitting front pages) is only going to get more prevalent. Optimizing for AI, meaning great schema AND content that’s actually quotable, not generic fluff is a must. Maybe not this year, but the shift is coming. And Bing’s 7% share? That’s still about 360 millions users, now with GPT integration.

People are changing how they search and are also forced fed AI results on the top of the page (thinking about Gemini which I can't stand btw here ) it is totally worth paying attention to.

The real opportunity is in publishing concrete data, hyper-niche insights, and original takes: content generic AI can’t replicate without hallucinating. That also targets the users who want a deeper, more concrete take than Gemini’s sanitized corporate generic nonsense and with a new generation of consumers rocking the attention span of a flea (thanks Tiktok! ) , delivers something that actually might make them pause and think.
