I stumbled on this guy's blogpost about a strategy to get a site or webpage like ripoffreport de-indexed from google

I can't post links here but you can find it using: ryan nelson black hat seo ripoff report

in a nutshell what he suggests is to replicate that page or site by copy/pasting the source code not just text so that google will think it is a duplicate and hit it with a penalty

Can the more knowledgeable SEO experts please chime in? is this a real thing? will it work?

thanks

Doubtful it will work. Why would G penalize the original page? Seems like this guy is speculating rather than giving valuable info.

I do a lot of ORM and you need to working on your positives rather than focusing on the negatives, that's a real long term strategy that will benefit your client.

This would not work because the original page you are trying to derank is already indexed. So when you copy it to another URL, your page is the duplicate content and receives a duplicate content penalty.

Tried this years ago, didn't work cause the page you put up is the dup content. Like BHopkins said, focus on the positives, I've worked about 200 ORM clients and my advice? Stick to traditional SEO, it is a cake walk compared to ORM. ORM costs a lot of money to do.

No need to get fancy pushing Ripoff Report off, just match some of the targeted terms, optimize them a little better, and you can get free Word Press blogs ahead of them. Not to mention many time just a little link building to the sites below them in the rankings.

In my opinion this strategy will not work as i have also tried before but not get success.

Thank you, appreciate all the feedback. I was skeptical before and now I realize this would be futile.

Since a few people who are involved in ORM chimed in, can you give any tips or suggestions?

I'm thinking of using xrumer blasts to push up a list of personal profiles on social sites like twitter, facebook, free wordpress, weebly, etc. type sites for a personal name (not company or other term).

Do you have any suggested vendors that might help? thank you again

duplicate content does not work that way

i'm just gonna post this image every time i see a thread that spreads the offsite dupe content slap myth from now on

Its not the way like it was before. There are some plugins even for wordpress like pubhubsub which when installed n your site confirms with G that your the owner of the site.So if someone copies that the copied site will be hit with a penalty & not the actual one.
