You do understand the name of this place and what it means right? If you want to only associate with people who talk about the positive aspects of IM I would suggest you go create your own forum. You can call it whitehatworld. lol :)

Blackhat was around a decade before Negative SEO was supposedly "accidentally created" by the Google updates and
sure we talk about shady tactics on breaking terms of service for self gain against companies like Google or Facebook but
that is totally different than choosing an ethically wrong practice against someone else in the industry.

Isn't it already a banned topic.

-_-

If it is then I never saw it publicly stated in a Sticky thread or the forum rules.

i totally agree, all suckers that open a thread about negative seo should be banned and thread removed.those losers should work on their sites and not try to fuck other people business, time, money etc

We are in agreement.

I disagree. I think we should just show them the light. Bring them over to the good side.

Impossible to take someone with those intentions and change them.

Best thing is to blacklist the terms {negative seo|neg seo} just like ******** otherwise it will spread like wildfire just like youtube flagging. Atleast that won't educate the newbies out here to pursue anything like this.

Good alternative at least it would cancel out those keywords from the thread from being indexed.

You can also accomplish something similar by moving the topic to the Junior VIP section.

True I guess that could be an alternative so the topic is not indexed.

Discussing NEG SEO Methods was actually not allowed before when this thing is just beginning to be popular. I believe a Jr. Executive VIP was reprimanded for posting a detailed guide of how to take out a competitor from google doing some negative SEO. Basically when there are threads about this topic, it got deleted as soon the mods are aware of it.

But this thing has blown out of proportion that you will see a thread about it almost everyday. So I guess the mods has gone tired of deleting and banning those people that talk about it.

Thank you for the information I had no clue this was going on. But I never once read where the topic was banned
in a sticky or the main forum rules. In my humble opinion it should be publicly displayed as a banned topic and enforced as
much as possible.

I hate the Neg SEO threads and would only like to see threads that discuss recovery from NSEO.

I like the idea but at the same time it would hurt people trying to find answers on here after being hit with neg seo.

I have bit different opinion..I think we should know how to get rid of negative SEO ...Discussion isn't bad promotion of negative SEO is bad thou

Same answer basically to all three of you. Recovering from Negative SEO is nothing new and the method is like
a rock it does not change. Disavow the links you think are bad and try to recover blah blah... We could make an awesome
lesson on recovery and make it a sticky or something for everyone to see without tolerating the discussion of Negative SEO.

And yes I would love to find a way to safeguard ourselves from Negative SEO much like Cloudflare can detect a DDOS attack.
If some program could catch abnormalities in the number of backlinks being added ect and automatically disavow them not
only would it change the industry it would make the person who created it very wealthy in sales.

agree. can you add a poll, OP?

Done! :)

Good opinions everyone :)

Cat's already out of the bag, might as well discuss it...
Question: If Negative SEO is basically low quality crap links in huge volume, would it be positive SEO for YT videos?

Says who? That's completely BS. No offence.

Do you really think some random guy on the internet who never actually spoke, seen or heard of you
or your real name is really going to give 2 cents of a shit about what you say is ethical?

This is not Dr.Phil show or the Oprah Winfrey show.....These are guys who will do anything to make
a buck and could care less. You may and I mean may convert 1/100 who just may be new to
internet marketing. But even then the chance is almost not there.

Hell I bet some guys who say they disagree with the practice to everyone's face are doing it right
now in the privacy of a VPS and some Fiverr gigs. Don't be naive. :)

It does not need to be banned. SEO comes with the good and the bad. The fact people talk about it is good. It gives the chance for people to explain why it is not an acceptable act. The BHW community does an excellent job in deterring people from using such techniques and a ban a blanket ban on the topic will hinder our ability to do that.

We know that talking to our children about drugs, sex and Justin beiber is a positive, because it allows them to make informed decisions and most of the time an informed person will realise the risks of drugs, wear condoms and makes offensive beiber memes.

That's a terribly analogy.

That suggests that people here are having parental-like discussions about the dangers of negative SEO for the industry.

A better analogy would be movies and celebs who glamorize taking drugs and the media outlets who publish those stories.

bhw is an incredibly big forum. I don't think you realize just how big it is. This isn't some underground community. Methods shared here become massively saturated in a matter of weeks.

If negative SEO starts being shared more and more then you won't find less people doing it. You'll find more people who would have otherwise not had access to the knowledge or even known about it suddenly putting it into action. It could easily become a major problem very quickly through bhw alone.

Well you have to face it, negative seo exists out there. I woke up with 100k backlinks in 2 days... all from autoapproved spam blogs (over 1k links in one page), and what I had to do was to sort everything out. Went into disavow tool and managed to "save" something in time. The sad part is that the rankings never came back to what they where... and we couldn't do anything else than that.
So i'm glad someone decided to say something like this, negative seo is a really successful strategy to dominate your competition. I don't practice or encourage this, but I was "slapped" by one of my competitors and Google didn't do much to help us.

This post right here proves my point.

neg seo didn't used to be a problem. No one used to discuss it and it was an underground topic. I've been in the SEO scene for a long time and in 2010-2011 no one ever mentioned it. It just wasn't on people's radar.

Suddenly it's a huge problem, and jeff thinks that MORE discussion about it on a huge forum will help. lol.

hip_hop.. That post you made was one of the worst things you could have written. You've basically just said "neg seo works and it works well". Considering 90% of people around here are so desperate to make a buck and are the equivalent of a desperate druggie on the street you'll now have 100's of people actively research neg seo. The more easily accessible that information is the more of them will succeed.

Ditto - Point is BHW is an authority (massive authority) on search engine optimization tactics and all levels
of internet marketing. New threads here are indexed almost instantly and rank high for searched topics. I feel with much
success and ranking comes responsibility for what you want broadcasted to the world.

Sure there are other forums and the information is out there no doubt. But vanishing it from a forum this large
would put a significant dent in the information available.

PS: I am aware of the moderated resources each regulation imposes and maybe it is not justified to take the
extra time to regulate it manually. I understand that :) But it is disheartening to hear so many members from
new guys to senior members saying "Website was hit and lost everything :( " and then comes along the peanut
gallery telling him to move on or try to fix it.

And it sure does look bad when a clients site is hit when they are paying you to rank it. Sure you can explain it
to them but it just complicates the whole situation and hurts the ROI of a project.

Absolutely spot on. I basically reiterated what you said without reading it. :)

why not ban people who try to get us to not talk about it. Freedom of speech brah

Freedoms that impose on other peoples rights to conduct business natural is not a freedom you
should have the right to. I mean this is not a country we are talking it about it is a forum with a dictator (the owner)
and business men/woman who come here to learn and earn.

I mean obviously my idea is not to far off since apparently it was banned before but was never
stated as being banned and some people got in trouble for it but now its okay. True all of that is not something
I witnessed personally but 2 well respected members mentioned it on this thread.

This isn't about "freedom of speech". You have the right to create your own site about neg seo.

This is about not using an outlet that millions of marketers view.

For every registered member there's going to be 10+ non-registered readers so there's easily over a million non-regular readers.

If it was discovered that you could kill a man by saying a special word, would you really want to discuss that word on a place where millions are reading? Would you really say "Oh, we should discuss it for protection" or "Oh, freedom of speech brah"

I too support the OP, negative SEO topics should be banned. We come to this community to learn and share stuff that helps others make money and not loose it.

Also a couple of days ago I saw a negative SEO thread that used child porn keywords to penalize site's. Just imagine if someone did it to your own site and claims he/she learnt the method from BHW :(

You guys are all just feeding of each others bullshit. Neg SEO isn't discussed on BHW as a 'how to' guide an if it is, it gets removed. Why on earth would we want to discourage people from posting, asking for help to recover?

Neg SEO is extremely simple to do an anyone that knows anything about SEO would be able to pull it off quiet simply. So how would banning the discussion achieve anything?

The reality is most people, yourself included, have too big an ego to ever change your position regardless of how strong the logic opposing your argument is.

I've seen people get literally crushed with incredibly strong arguments and rather than assess their own beliefs by detaching from the belief and realizing there's a belief, and there's them, they take it personally as if their very person has been crushed and insults soon start getting thrown.

You're doing that a bit here. "feeding off each others bullshit", "why on earth" etc.

It's just a discussion. Don't get so heated when your beliefs are questioned.

Same to you buddy.

All I'm saying is I haven't seen a logical argument that backs up your point yet and until I do see a logical argument, my position will remain the same.

First I would like to link back to W130SN's original thread about not letting Negative SEO and YouTube flagging
going unchecked and being discussed which gained massive support from new members to senior members.

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/forum-suggestions-feedback/639358-ban-negative-search-engine-optimization-discussions.html

And for those who say we are just feeding off of bullshit here is just a taste of many threads about
negative SEO and this is not bullshit. I see them every time I log in. New ones popping up all the time.

^ That is just a small taste of the many pages asking for Negative SEO help or looking for someone
to do it for them not to mention suspicious questions to learn more.

Bullshit? I think not.....

I agree that those thread should be deleted, not because they contain neg SEO content but because they are trash.

What's the harm in someone coming onto BHW who has been hit by a NSEO attack and asking how they can recover?

IMHO this is a bad route to try and prevent specific discussions. It can be NSEO, politics, drugs, child abuse, doesnt really matter how you call it, the end result is always the same:

People will Switch to a new Platform/Country/Planet where the above can be discussed

Nothing is wrong with people seeking help and we could actually write up a guide all about help for everyone to view.
Negative SEO and its recovery is simple and does not require thread after thread and answer after answer to try and fix
your website.

In terms of moving forward, I don't think it's as simple as disavowing links and that's it, if that's what you mean.

I think we should just leave this up to the mods, at the end of the day our opinions on the matter don't mean shit.

I voted for:

Only on how to do Negative SEO. Recovery threads are fine.
