Hello there this is my first post here so i hope it's in the right place.Recently i have sold some in-game currency(GW2 gold) and the way i received the money was paypal.Unfortunately the buyer made a chargeback and now my paypal account is -200$.I had a credit card linked at one point in time but since then i have removed it.My question is:can paypal take money from that credit card to pay the negative balance and what can i do to prvent that?.I also have to mention that i am from EU so i have not linked my bank account to paypal and that i have no intention of paying paypal since i have held me end of the deal.

Holy hell i am going to hide in my basement then....right well i would very much appreciate if some1 with experience could answer..or someone that isn't in their troll mode:D

If you removed the CC then they cannot take money from it, that'd be fraud.

You should be fine, but you never really know with this kind of stuff. The good thing is, it seems like you've done all you can, since you removed the card from your account.

Since your credit card is no longer tied to your account you should be all right. If the card was still there they would charge your card for the $200. Unfortunately, you will probably be banned by Paypal until this issue gets resolved. You may wish to call them and discuss this issue with them. I've had several disputes with PayPal, and have been able to resolve them by discussing it with one of their agents.

OP next time use some freelancing sites to get payment or use escrow. if you removed you credit card you still get in trouble i will recommend you to leave your country to night.

they will not able to charge you if you already removed the card btwif you want file a complain of loss of credit card and get new credit card with new numbers from company :)

UPDATE: Today was the day i would get a verdict so i checked out my paypal account just to see that my account has been reversed to 4.80$(the amount i had before the chargeback) without me doing absolutely anything. I checked my bank and the cc i had linked was not charged(like you guys said) so basically now it's like it never happened. Can anyone explain just what in the hell happened?:D

Who knows. Probably you were lucky. But if it happens again, pay your neg. balance to get on +, once PP limited me and sent me an eMail about laws and what they would do if I had a minus on my account (my acc was with a positive balance), not sure why they did that, but just a tip for you.

You lucky son of a gun!

In future; If you do not settle it you will be banned, they may also sell your debt to a local debt collection agency.

Paypal would have looked and told the buyer that they are digital goods and not covered. I am assuming that you mean he made a dispute or claim at Paypal. A chargeback is when his bank contacts Paypal for the money and is completely different.

Seems like they figured out that the other person was the scammer. You are lucky. :) Be careful next time.

The posts are great! All you do is go into your account and edit your card and remove it. Then your done. You will not be able to use that card on any other paypal account.

the in-game currency company will be the one that lost $200, not paypal

Hate the fact that i have to dig up this old post but here's a new update.Apparently my account got back in negative balance even tho last time i checked it was back to normal and now there's a debt collection agency after me.Now i've read around the forum and from what i understood i should send a debt validation letter to the company. I've seen something about a user named SWIM or something but i didnt exactly understand and i would apreciate if some1 could shine some light about it.Also i would like some advice regarding the power that a debt collection agency has(regarding lawsuits and all that).

They have power and paypal wants its money back clearly.

You should pay.
