HEY BHW family

I am working with an E-commerce site; in the last Google Broad Core Update, clicks on the site doubled, even tripled, as I have been working and updating everything on that site for the last 3-4 months.
But with the latest Spam update & Broad Core update, the site lost nearly 4x clicks and traffic going down from the last 3 days. Here are some steps I want to take after 1-2 weeks if the site doesn't regain it position.
  1. Delete all out-of-stock products, nearly 20K Out of stock products (Some of them order based Products)
  2. Update All Meta Title and Meta Description for Products
  3. Delete all Non-Traffic Blogs or Outdated blogs
  4. Update Collection Page Data
Please suggest more ideas.

Yeah all these 4 points are must-do things and also in the titles and description use Year

For example " best upcoming offers in 2024 for Product X"

This is because using year can drive you some clicks

Apart from the On-page check the off-page too, check the external links you are getting for the products

Its more important how you focus on page as well as Off page seo too

But the main question is, what about these 19K URLs? Should I redirect them to relevant collection pages? We are dependable on ON Page SEO, No off Page SEO, only some automatic and authority site links.

yeah, you can redirect into a domain that is also helpful to retrieve and get the stats to the new redirected domains but may I know the reason why you won't do any OFF page SEO seriously?

We never need that; we already rank in the top 3-5 on our main keywords. But now looking for link-building Opportunities via HARO links, PR, and some quality Guest Posts.

Hey dakudaddy
,

Whoa! Sounds like Google’s recent update threw a bit of a wrench in your plans, huh? Your diligent work over the last few months and the following traffic plunge must feel like a rollercoaster. Buckle up; let’s navigate through this together!

1. Zapping Out-of-Stock Products:

  • Hold Up! Before hitting delete, remember some of these pages might be your SEO allies, having garnered love from search engines and users over time.
  • Alternative: Instead of sending them to the digital graveyard:
    • Keep the golden geese (pages with decent traffic and historical SEO juice).
    • Give visitors an “Email When Available” option or suggest alternative products.

2. Meta Title & Description Makeover:

  • Yes, Yes, Yes! Refreshing meta titles and descriptions can be your secret sauce to reclaiming those click-through rates.
  • Be: Crafty, and concise, and avoid the notorious keyword stuffing. Aim for 60 characters for titles and 155 for descriptions.

3. Blogging – To Delete or Not to Delete:

  • Slow Down: Deleting might seem like a tidy-up mission, but it could rob you of some hidden SEO treasure.
  • How About:
    • Jazzing up outdated content and making it relevant and snazzy?
    • Merging a few weaklings into a powerhouse of a blog post?

4. Collection Page Glow-Up:

  • Spotlight On: Not just updating, but sprinkling a bit of user-friendliness, aesthetic appeal, and strategic categorization.

Extra Nuggets of Wisdom:

- SEO Detective Work:

  • Go full Sherlock on your site with an SEO audit, weeding out any sneaky, broken links or crawl mishaps.

- Backlink Cleanup:

  • Make sure your backlinks aren’t hanging out in the bad company. Boot out any toxic links that could be straining your SEO reputation.

- Mobile-Friendly Vibes:

  • Make your site a cozy, intuitive space for the mobile users’ squad.

- Content is Your Bestie:

  • Keep churning out content that adds value, resonates with the audience, and gets those engagement metrics ticking.

- Embrace & Enhance UX:

  • Give user experience the front seat. Amp up page load speeds and optimize visual elements.

- Hang On to Your Visitors:

  • Use email blasts and retargeting tricks to keep your audience in your loop, especially when you have something exciting to share.
Alright, dakudaddy, remember that SEO is a marathon, not a sprint. And while the terrain has shifted a bit (thanks, Google!), with a few tweaks and turns, we’ll get that traffic zooming back in no time!

Hang in there, and here’s to bouncing back stronger!

Cheers,[Karthick]

Detailed and insightful.

you can start by removing out-of-stock products, optimizing meta titles and descriptions, and deleting non-traffic blogs. Updating collection page data is also important for user experience and SEO. Keep monitoring and making data-driven decisions to adapt to search engine updates.

In addition to your planned steps, consider improving page load speed, enhancing mobile responsiveness, conducting backlink analysis, and auditing site structure for user-friendliness. Monitor analytics closely and adapt your strategy based on real-time data for better recovery.

Page load speed is a headache for us, and we got stuck in it as the website is custom-built. It tracks users' IPs for serving products region-wise. Due to this, passing the page speed matrix is a headache for us in mobile. But we serve AMP pages for mobile users. Previous SEOs made many mistakes in site structure, and now I can't correct them as they will harm website traffic badly and require a lot of work from the product uploading team.

I understand the challenges you're facing with page load speed, especially with a custom-built website and regional tracking. Serving AMP pages for mobile users is a good step. It's unfortunate about the previous SEO mistakes sometimes, it's a delicate balance between improving SEO and maintaining user experience.

I am working on that and trying to increase page speed with the developer's help, but it will take time as we can't take any steps without proper precautions as festival season is going to start.
