Need some help — my homepage disappeared from Google for 2 months.

My website machinestable.com went live on September 3rd, and the homepage was indexed at first. But around early October, the homepage completely disappeared from Google and hasn’t reappeared for almost two months. Some inner pages still show up, but the homepage is missing.

There are no manual actions in Search Console, and I haven’t done any major changes to the site structure.

Does anyone know:
  • Is it normal for a new site’s homepage to drop out like this?
  • Should I resubmit the homepage URL for indexing?
  • How long does it usually take for Google to bring it back?
  • Anything I can do to speed up the recovery?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

This isn't normal for a homepage to be missing this long, and it typically indicates a technical issue or a content quality signal. You should first use Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool to check for any crawl errors or accidental noindex directives on the homepage, then request re-indexing through that same tool. To speed things up, ensure your homepage has substantial, unique content beyond just links, and build a few quality backlinks directly to it to reinforce its importance.

You need to review your content and images to check for duplicates or other issues, and then resubmit your XML sitemap in Google Search Console.
 
Yes, resubmitting the homepage URL in Google Search Console can help prompt Google to re-crawl and potentially index it again.

New sites fluctuate ("Google Sandbox"), but a 2-month disappearance often signals a quality assessment. Check GSC's URL Inspection for "Crawled - not indexed." Update homepage content, then Request Indexing.
 
It’s not unusual for a new site’s homepage to drop out while Google reshuffles things, especially in the first few months. I’d resubmit the URL in Search Console and work on strengthening internal links and fresh content to help it come back faster.
 
Delete Your Old Sitemaps From The Google Search Console And Update your homepage title and tagline, and resubmit it to GSC For Indexing if this method dosen't work for you so check penalty in GSC, Might you haver any
 
The homepage has been restored, for some inexplicable reason.
 
its Not normal for new sites, likely thin content, weak signals, or post-June 2025 update deindexing affecting low-value homepages.

Resubmit via GSC URL Inspection after checking noindex/robots.txt/canonical issues.
Add some more content and refresh old, strong internal links from posts, sitemap resubmit.
 
This is not normal for a well-structured homepage. Do not just resubmit it. First, in Search Console, run a URL inspection on the homepage to see Google's indexed version and any coverage issues. The most common cause is a canonical tag error or accidental 'noindex' directive on the homepage. Check your page's HTML and sitemap to ensure the homepage is properly set as canonical and is not blocked.

This is a panalty, many sites have been punished like this. Solution for this is that you keep adding content to site and also make good backlinks.
 
Check if your homepage is ranking for your brand name. If it's gone but inner pages appear, Google might have demoted it as "thin" while ranking a more detailed internal page instead. This happens when homepages lack substantial content beyond navigation.

Resubmit via URL inspection, but first swap any generic "Welcome" text for 2 to 3 paragraphs of unique, keyword-focused content. Even adding a brief "About Us" or "What We Offer" section can trigger re-indexing.
