Hey all, I'm pretty new to SEO and I've spent a good deal of time reading the last 2 weeks (at least 7 hours a day the last 2 weeks >_<) and I believe I'm almost ready to jump into building my first site. I have a few questions though before I begin:

The main keyword I'm going to target seems to have pretty low competition when it comes to serious SEO being thrown at it. I noticed though when searching the keyword that the #1 result is a domain with the following stats:

The site isn't really centered around the keyword but mainly a single blog post centered around the keyword.

Ok so, the main site that stood out to me the most that would qualify for the #1 spot on page 1 is actually in the #6 spot on page 1. Here are the stats for it:

The site with the stats posted above has a tremendous amount of links and the site is also centered purely around the keyword.

I guess I'm looking for some help to figure out why the second site I listed that is centered around the niche with also so many more links is ranking so poorly compared to the first website?

---

Also completely other subject: Is blasting a domain or even a parasite page with links using GSA a pretty dead tactic these days to rank? Should I focus more on getting social signals and whitehat SEO?

Thanks bros for viewing the post. Looking forward to reading your thoughts/opinions.

The PA and PR for those 2 sites are very strong.
I am not sure what you are trying to do.
Are you going fro 4,5,6 spot?
If so you ned to lineup the Pr and PA of lower ranking sites and see if it feasible for you to compete.
If not, move on and save your money time and effort

Google does not just account for keywords anymore within their algorithm, so even if it seems like it would be best from keyword repetition, Google might not agree with you.
