Hi I recently started posting some YouTube shorts on my channel 6 days ago and so far about 10 shorts and out of the 10 shorts, 3 videos have between 360 to 500 views. The rest are below 200 views. I have less than 70 subscribers so far.

I am keen to know:

  1. How many videos should I post daily?
  2. Does YouTube determine a good video based on current interaction by subscribers or is there something in the video YouTube uses to determine an original video?
  3. Does the video thumbnail play a part in video virality?
  4. If I have a competitor, should I focus on their video title and description?
Thanks

Hey I'm not a big channel in any sense of the word but I can say uploading shorts helps motivate me alot, the algorithm is very random with shorts and just simply seems to help get your name out there, if you're primarily full form then just don't distract yourself too much with shorts I've been doing that alot but yes it seems worth it as long as you put the same love into the shorts as your full form

Early on I did quite a few shorts to add subscribers to get to the 1k target quicker for my long form channel. They were related content. It worked. Doesn’t matter if they do not translate to long form views. A sub is a sub on the channel. There are a lot of ‘experts’ who will point out this doesn’t work. It worked for me.
Now I have backed off quite a lot and only do them occasionally. They do not generate any $$ return or significant traffic to the long form videos. As the 1k sub target was already achieved there is no need to pursue subs with shorts to the same degree now.
However, shorts are fun to do. If you have a spare 30 minutes I find knocking out a short, editing it on my phone and seeing it take off within the hour can be a lot of fun. That’s the only real reason I do shorts now.

2-3 shorts are good.
Keep posting original videos. It will take some time.
Thumbnails plays an very important role.
You can copy competitor tactics.

just make sure, to ask the viewers to like and subscribe, if some do it has a big influence on the algorithm !

for how much to upload I get best results with a video every 6 hours.

the ammount really depends but less videos with really good quality is better than 20 videos with por editing, thumbnail was and will always be important in your video and always check your competitors videos for ideas and check what are they doing.

On YouTube shorts at least, you need to focus on quality and not quantity.
If you can make 3 high-quality videos a day, do it.
If you can only make 1 high-quality video, just do it.
The YouTube shorts are focusing on audience engagement.
If you have a high quality video and people are really interested in it, and it has really good retention? Then this video is perfect.

Youtube shorts is a type of media that you can create by using videos or mini clips. This could be use as a summary of your main vlog or content.

Focus on quality over quantity.

When your video quality is good, you don't need to care about those things
