Need help with my email list, looking for mentor and guidance!!

Hey is there anyone out there who is experienced in either building and monetizing email lists or facebook ads (media buys). Then you should consider me as a protege :D

Email lists:

I'm new to the whole thing. I've built a squeeze page a series of 12 follow up messages and gotten 40 subscribers for the email list, but no sales were made there :( recently I've changed the freebie on the squeeze page from a redirect to a click bank promo video to a ebook (which I have written) I would be happy to send you all the contents for analysis or critiquing. Like I said, very new. My goal is to be able to build a quality squeeze page and follow up messages and then scale it up to make more money!

Facebook ads:

Don't know how media buys or cpa really work. How much credential I need to join a network, where I can start. The thing about me is, I can take massive action but don't have any real direction. Some guidance could really help.

Anyway, if anyone here qualifies enough to be able to answer some of my questions pm me, maybe we can talk about it on skype along with IM in general.

List newbie here too, and I'm curious where did you get your first 40 subscribers? I have 'the machine' all set up, but I can't for the life of me find places that actually get people to convert. I've tried a few forums promoting my lists in that niche etc.

How did you get those 40? I view that as a huge success. :)

I Just bought solo ads. My opt-in rate is like 30%. But even then no sales. I was hoping id atleast make the 45 bucks investment back. I don't think solo ads are quality traffic.

Is this your first squeeze page? Not a bad opt-in rate for your first try. Re: solo ad traffic quality - that depends on the seller. Most just keep swaping between each other to build their lists. It's just a big subscriber orgy. Those that know they have quality subscribers/traffic charge a bit more for their solos. So...you're marketing in the MMO niche?

Did you present your subscriber to a OTO type deal after the optin? Usually, just having banners on a thank you page leading to an offer helps without you seeming dodgy. It takes about 5-7 emails from you, typically, before someone will buy. Those that do so before are chronic impulse buyers or the offer was highly relevant to the reason why they subscribed in the first place.

What's the content like in those 12 autoresponders? Is it just drip-feeding quality info, how-to...???

This is the sort of stuff I need to know. Since I am knew I don't have a good idea of the expectations, by my 7th email I've already pitched two cb products so maybe i'm going too fast :S

Yes, MMO. After they opt-in they are redirected directly to the offer. And then I follow up on email. I couldn't judge the quality of my content since I am new myself. But it isn't technical stuff like the "methods" posted here. It's more like motivational or "persuasive" talks with the occasional sales pitch planted in. Like I try to personalize it, tried to put an authority role on myself by showing "proof of earnings" (hey its unethical, but you gotta fake it till you make it). I put in calls for action, etc. The things is I don't know exactly how well versed the subscribers are. Are they stay at home mums looking for an extra buck, or could they be people possibly even MORE experienced than me. What do I write for the first 5 emails. Is it all supposed to be free content?
 
Do you want to build a long-term relationship with your list and be seen as a trustworthy marketer...thus making money a bit slowly? Or, do you just want to smash & dash...get as much money as you can? Depending on the answer to this depends on your strategy.
 
Well I want a semi auto-pilot long term list. Like a series of maybe 30 or so emails that I could keep making minor modifications to and then run through a new set of subscribers.I checked my open rates on aweber and it seems like only 1 of the 40 subscribers followed up the emails. Except for one email in which the title was "hey its me, I want to share something with you" and 12 subs opened it :S and that email was just a made up success story lol. Strange.
