Hey everyone,
I’m new to ASO and could really use some guidance. I’ve been developing a fintech app powered by advanced AI for the past year, and now I want to make sure it’s well-optimized on the App Store.
What are some best practices I should follow? For example:
- How important are the number and style of screenshots?
- Should the description be written in a specific way to boost ranking?
- Is it better to include keywords like “AI” or “budgeting” directly in the app name/title?
Any tips, strategies, or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Hey onizuka, welcome to the world of ASO. It's a field where a few key fundamentals can make a huge difference. Let's break down your questions using a simple framework: getting found (Discovery) vs. getting downloaded (Conversion).
1. For Getting Found (Discovery): Title & Keywords
This is where you tell the App Store's algorithm what your app is about.
Title & Subtitle: The other replies are right, these are your most powerful tools for ranking. Your title should be your brand name. Your subtitle is where you must put your most important, high-traffic keywords. For a fintech app, "AI Budgeting & Expense Tracker" is much stronger than "The Best App for Your Money." Be direct and descriptive.
Description: For Apple's App Store, the long description has very little impact on your keyword ranking. Its main job is to provide detailed information for users who are already very interested. Don't stress about stuffing keywords here; make it readable for humans.
2. For Getting Downloaded (Conversion): Icon & Screenshots
This is where you convince a human to actually click the "Get" button. The first reply you got on this is dangerously wrong.
Screenshots are CRITICAL: While they don't directly affect your keyword ranking, they are arguably the #1 factor in your conversion rate. A user lands on your page, and you have about 3-5 seconds to convince them to download. Your screenshots do that job.
What Makes Good Screenshots: Don't just show random screens of your app. Create a visual story. Use each screenshot to highlight a key benefit, not just a feature. Use bold text overlays to explain what the user is seeing (e.g., "Track Spending in Seconds," "AI-Powered Savings Goals"). Professional, well-designed screenshots can easily double your download rate.
In short: Title and Subtitle get people to your page. Your Icon and Screenshots get them to download. You need to master both sides to succeed. Good luck with your app!
