Need help with addon domains

I'm completely stuck so I thought I might ask here.

I want to add addon domain in my cpanel (they allow like 4 and I have 0). I have a maindomain.com and basically I wanted to add newdomain.com so I can fully use it. But I got this message when trying to do so:

Can anyone help?

I suspect they've got something scrambled in their electronic back office. Oftimes a registration will get listed at one level and not at another. So when you try to log on it says you must register (again) and when you try to register it says the name is already taken.

I'd start by contacting the sys admins with the problem.

trophaeum: I've already added my DNS (The A record stuff with hosts IP) if that's what it means.

Haven't really had this before so now I feel like a complete fool (I probably am)

Your host has the following unchecked in their configuration:

Allow Creation of Parked/Addon Domains that resolve to other servers (i.e. domain transfers) [This can be a major security problem. If you must have it enabled, be sure to not allow users to park common internet domains.]

This means that you can not park or addon a domain until it is pointed at the server.
I doubt they will change the setting, so you probably just have to re-point your domain first.

If you've already set your dns to them, it may just not have propagated yet?

Well It's been a day since I added them (on name.com).

And when I bought the hosting package it clearly said I can have up to 4 addon domains.

If you PM me your domain name I can check what the DNS is actually set to - a day is plenty of time to propagate.

Also - if you look in your cpanel (depending on what theme you are using) it should say somewhere something like: using: 0/4 addon domains If not, maybe the host needs to manually add the addon domains.

If its a new domain you might have to wait for the name servers to update? maybe its something more complicated than that?

Well I bought the domain like 2 or 3 days ago. Could that be the case?

No, 2 or 3 days would be plenty of time for the domain to propagate. There's either an error in your domain's configuration or in your host's configuration.
If you PM me the domain I will run it through DNSstuff. If you send a screenshot of your cpanel, I can probably tell you if the host has a config problem.

Otherwise, just contact the helpdesk of your host, and they should be able to sort it out.
