Need help suggestions re: reseller's license

Hey guys,

I need some suggestions on my current situation. I have been trying to find a good, profitable wholesaler to buy from and resell on eBay. After quite some time, my friend told me to take a look at the one he uses which I did and want to use. However, they require a reseller license # before you can even join.

He told me I could order under his, but would probably have to pay the tax ahead of time. Using him as my "in" seems to be a pain in the butt for both of us. Besides, now that taxes are in the equation, not sure how profitable this will even be.

So any suggestions? Should I just go and get a business license and a resellers license and join under my own name? Is this expensive and a lengthy project?

If you are in Philly, it is going to be a little costly... I lived there in the late 70's and early 80's and the cost to operate a business within the city limits was expensive in terms of licensing.

If you hit one of the suburbs there you would probably save some cash.

Actually, I live in one of the suburbs. Is it just one license I need, a reseller license?

Odds are all you will need is a business license for your town. Tomorrow call the town hall and ask them over there and they can give you much better advice.
