Hi BHW members. I have recently joined a SEO firm. I have been given the opportunity to rank a competitive keyword. Its a brand new page and its just 3 weeks old. At the moment the targeted keyword ranking position is 75th page :yield: . In Google adword tool it shows a 100% competition. My target is to rank within 4 months and currently i've been working for 2 weeks and gained 116 links and climbed about 40 positions.

Plz advice me. My target is to get 2000 links, SER position below 100 atleast within 4 months. I am willing to work hard but need more advice and how should i approach.

    Thanks and Regards
    Rav

blog commenting to do-follow blogs. I suggest 10 links a day or else you will be sandboxed, I made 6k links in just two months(this includes article marketing). So I estimate do follow comments will do the trick in just 4 months

What i do at the moment is

    1. 6 blog commenting per day
    2. 6 social bookmarking per day
    3. 5 article submissions per day
    4. Get registered to 5 forums and at least place 3 links in each forum
    5. 5 Directory submissions to PR5+ sites
    6. Once a week i submit to well known Web 2.0 sites as well
Though i am doing this in regular term i don't see much of a boost in search engine ranking and most of the links are not showing up as well. Am i doing anything bad? What could be the problem that my links just showing 116 for 2 weeks? How could i make a boost on my ranking? Any other approaches i could make?

pinging the places you drop your link can help G find your links faster. Whenever I do any backlink building I always have a tab for pingler open :)

aiming for a highly competitive keyword is not a great tactic right off the bat. Some might be able to do it but most wont manage it. If you get to 4th page you probably wont get much traffic = FAILURE. To improve you will probably need to boost your internal pages surrounding your keyword.

You could always try the reverse. Aim for less competitive but related terms and build them around the competitive term you wish to rank for. You will get traffic from your longtail terms and in the meantime indirectly strengthen your target term. With a stonger backlink profile you can then look to alternative methods to give you that extra boost.
