Need Help Getting My Paypal Money Back

I'm currently having a major problem with scampal that I would like to have corrected immediately. My paypal account was originally limited saying that I was linked to an account with an unresolved negative balance which is bs because I've never ran a negative balance on a paypal account. They then said because of this they would hold my money for 180 days then release it back to me. About a month before the 180 days was up, I saw that paypal had a transaction on my account named "paypal balance adjustment" where they removed $500 of the $509 and some cents in my account with a message in the paypal transaction saying "Because there is indisputable evidence that both PayPal accounts are owned by the same person, we have moved $500.00 USD to resolve account: (some email address here that I've never used or even heard of). I have asked for this "evidence" paypal claims to have but they will not supply it. It seems that paypal is bent on stealing this money from me since they won't help me get it back.


What kind of recourse do I have in trying to force paypal to pay this money back? I would also be willing to pay someone a percentage of the $500 if they are able to successfully get paypal to return the money using any means necessary (I've heard that some people are good at reasoning with paypal or threatening them into correcting an issue). I even know one guy who had his lawyer send them a threatening letter to get a problem taken care of, even though I feel like I would pay a lawyer more than $500 for his time and I still may not get the money back. I feel like the money could be released if I could talk some sense into paypal, but they don't seem to be willing to listen to me. Like I said, I would like to know what my options are or if anyone thinks they can help.

I think paypal abusing their popularity nowadays. They fabricate stories just to files issues againts ur account. My God, 180 days of funds held really not right. Its people's money.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you OP, that sucks. Basically Paypal can do whatever they feel like , until a lawyer comes into play. So if you feel like getting a lawyer go for it. But the final cost could be above $500 in the end, not sure if it is worth it.

Paypal has changed their rules recently .. but always they won't reply for our request.. Make call twice a day .then ask what is exact reason ...or say "connect me with your higher authority i want to talk to him".. then if he/she connected means then explain and ask whats going on with your paypal.. try to claim . before that they will ask some documents you should be ready for that./.

They are not a bank, they are a card issuer. You should see the court docs where State Attorney generals take them to court and lose with a class action lawsuit... well sometimes they have small victories against PP but not much.

They are evil and they hold some accounts with $100K+ in them , company accounts that have more than a dozen employees depending on paychecks that require that money... if they screw those people over, they sure don't care about $500. Sad but true.

They have held over $20K of my money over 4 different times over the last 3 years... I normally get it a back about 6 months later. Theyjust took $1400 on one of my accounts, I sent in 4 banks statements, DL, Confirmed SS#, utility bill and spent many hours on the phone over a 2 week period. No good, they still have the money. I will get it in May, so I move on.

With all do respect, I don't believe you didn't have an account before. I have only seen PP link an account when a First and Last name are linked and a mailing address. OR maybe a matching checking account was linked. They are dicks but for this linking I have only seen it a few times and after HOURS of me digging to help a person in this situation, it turns out this was the case.

In theory you could have logged into a wireless connection and shared an IP address with a scammer... but I have never seen this and doubt it would take so little for this to happen. I have seen several times where an account went thosounds of dollars negative and other PP accounts shared the same mailing address and IP address and the accounts were NEVER linked...

Sorry I don't have good news and sound negative. BUT in many ways once you realize your options and do what you can ... then you kind of feel relieved and continue with your life/income. The helpless feeling of thinking you can fix something that is truly unfixable sucks. This is the real evil act of PP and EB... giving false hope that always lingers.

yeah same with me too, I using paypal as a transaction and their held my $1000 money because someone send me fraud money? WTF!
