Maybe I'm too cautious, but I prefer to also link out to other sites from some of my tiers...to wikipedia, a video, etc...it looks a bit odd to have links only pointing to one's site. Sprinkle in one or two. Also, I think you need to quit thinking like an engineer and a bit more like an artist...links happen organically, and it is a chaotic pattern, so there is a lot to be said for randomness.
