Hi,

Recently my account was banned because of "inaccurate, overboard information about the product" which I seriously have no idea what went wrong with my website. I initially thought that I was banned because I was using link shortener but apparently that was not the case.

I'm thinking of calling them, see how it goes and reapplying for another account. Does anyone have any experience with reapply with Amazon Associates and do you have any tips?

Thanks

very interesting. Unfortunately i never had this problem but i would be interested why the banned you. Good Luck mate

Why they banned you? tell here reason for ban?

Hi,

Just like I mentioned in my post, they banned me because my site was making "inaccurate, overboard information about the products". I sent them 3 emails to ask where the problem was but they just replied with the same email without any further information.

Then you have to call them.... I have never heard of someone getting banned for "inaccurate, overboard information about the products" That is new to me.

From what I know, there is no problem opening a new account with amazon. If you are able to discuss with them, they will even advice you to open another account with the same details...

Hi,

I thought that it was pretty common. Maybe because I didn't quote the whole sentence in their email. They said that my site makes "inaccurate, overbroad, deceptive or otherwise misleading claims about Products, the Amazon Site, or our policies, promotions or prices". But I already put the earning disclaimer on my website since the beginning, I didn't mention any promotions or prices on my website so I just thought that the problem was the Products.

I understand that I can open another account with different details but at the moment I don't have access to a different address and bank account name. But I will try and call them later to see how it goes. Let's hope that I can still open another account. Thank you.

I once had an issue with Amazon because they said that my websites were offline on their side and banned my account. I contacted them using chat and they reactivated my account in few hours.

Try to contact them fast. Good luck

I contacted them via chat right after I received the email as well, but the lady said that the problem is beyond her responsibility so she advised me to call them.

And I just called them. The guy was really nice, he said that he will forward my information and problem to the team and they will send me back an email within 24 hours. He also said that if they couldn't reopen my account, I can open a new account with the same information (well, I can but don't know if they will approve it or not). But still, it's a positive sign.

Will keep you guys updated.

On your next call, just ask them about what in your website leads to that "inaccurate, overbroad, etc" so that you can eliminate those on your new account.

Your complaint will be forwarded to an account specialist, you'll soon get an email from person named "Gary" but most of the times I can say that 95% will get rejected. I've never heard someone get their account reactivated.

I was banned few times with different reasons, especially like yours below:

"You are not in compliance with the Associate Program Linking Requirements because your site makes inaccurate, overbroad, deceptive or otherwise misleading claims about Products, the Amazon Site, or our policies, promotions or prices."

Let us know if you get the account reactivated.

I have been with Amazon since 2007 and I use in different places. Luckily never had any issues. I hope the customer service will help you. They are pretty quick in responding.

I hope so as well. Thank you for stopping by.

I'm planning on doing the exact same thing too, but I don't know if they will point me to the right direction though. The last time I asked them about it via emails, they just sent me the same email without further explanation. But I will try it, thank you.

Yes, those last emails that I received from them were sent from "Gary" as well. And they kept saying that the decision was final. It's not like I have a high hope that they can recover my old account, I just want to confirm if I can create another account or not.

How did you make different account every time you were banned anyway? Do you just use different details and reopen?

*UPDATE: It's nearly 24 hours and I haven't received anything from Amazon yet. Maybe because in the very last email that I received, Gary said that "Please understand that this decision is final, and any further requests to review your account or unpaid fees for reinstatement will not receive a response.". Still, I will wait for the whole 24 hours and then I will call them again to re-confirm if I can reopen another account with the same details.

Here is another amazon statement "We ask that you immediately remove all Amazon Content from your site(s). Any other accounts you have or may open in the future may be closed and you will not receive any advertising fees. We reserve all other rights and claims we may have." - You can try to reopen an account with same details but once they got you they will ban you using the reason "duplicate account blablabla.. "

I create new account using someone's data, They can be your family or friends. and always using different IP/machine so every details are 100% different.

That's why I couldn't try to open another account right now because I have 1 address with no different bank account and information to fill out.

After 3 days and 2 calls to Amazon support, I think that they simply ignore all my request right now. So I think that's it for now. Will definitely try to register a new account in the future if I can. I'm trying out Prosperent at the moment, of course the merchants up there will not have the same conversion rate as Amazon but it's better than nothing.

Thank you guys

Got a similar email recently. Had like $15k on it. I'd understand if I was stuffing cookies, hacking websites or something like that, but I didn't.

I've spent a few days searching for a solution and guess what? It's over lol. Amazon was my main source of income and they won't pay me my last 2 payments and who knows how much I had on local Amazons in Europe.

I have spent a few days searching for a solution and couldn't find it. One guy opened a new account on his wife's name and got banned in 24 hours. One guy contacted Jeff Bezos and got his account reinstated without a problem. Another guy opened a new account on his name and he's making money again for the past 6 months.

The thing I hate Amazon is this:

Any other accounts you have or may open in the future may be closed and you will not receive any advertising fees.

So basically this means you MAY open account, you MAY be banned, you MAY not get any money, you MAY get a lot of money, you MAY be banned right now, you MAY be banned after 2 months when you have a lot of money on Amazon, you MAY not get banned ever. No one knows what that means.

Some people sued Amazon in the past because it's the right thing to do to get the money for something you've already sold before you got banned. And they got their money because Amazon doesn't have the time for this and they rather pay you the money they owe.

But last year they changed their TOS and right now they can close your account and take your money without any reason and you can't do anything about it.

I would contact them about the possibilities of opening a new account on my name, but I know I'll get the same copy+pasted generic answer.

Same situation as OP, I was banned by Amazon too for the same reason

You are not in compliance with the Associate Program Linking Requirements because your site makes inaccurate, overbroad, deceptive or otherwise misleading claims about Products, the Amazon Site, or our policies, promotions or prices.

I didn't include any price, any words such as best, offer and discount in my posts but still I got banned.

I emailed them asking them to show me which part was wrong and after a few days, the account specialist replied with the same answer as above - your site makes inaccurate, overbroad, deceptive or otherwise misleading claims....

I still don't know what causes the banned

From the looks of it the reason for your ban was simply because you didn't mention or provide details about affiliate products next to the link.

Amazon is known to ban affiliates for not providing detailed instructions when linking from blogs, websites or other means. With Amazon's strict rules sometimes it's easier to make websites based around them.

When linking to Amazon you have to insert descriptions about their products near the links you push.

You must think of reapplying from a different ID. BTW, did you add Amazon disclosure in the product section?

I wrote review on the product and I used 'click here for more info about product name' and just linked it to amazon. I have amazon disclosure at the footer of my blog. Maybe what they want is 'click here for more info about product name on amazon' , maybe because I left out the word on Amazon that caused the banned.

No, they don't care about that.
