How about this:
I use a searched for keyphrase page for all affiliates that request it.
I can simply change the name of the index page to something like:
ps3 lights fix
The url would look like this:
Code:
http://www.Ps3Manual.com/ps3-lights-fix
I simply rename my index page and upload it and the affiliate might rank for the internal page's keyphrase on my domain.
What I'll do is simple change the orderlink by hardcoding it with the affiliates links. This won't have any cookies but it would mean 100% guaranteed comission for all sales generated through that page.
Can this harm the main domain, get it sandboxed do to too many duplicate pages?
Actually that's the type of set up that might possibly get a dup content penalty since all those pages would be on the same domain. You could possibly take care of that with a canonical tag or maybe setting a robots meta tag for noindex, but I'm not really sure.
But more importantly, the possible dup content penalty isn't the main problem with doing it that way. Contrary to what you're thinking, that way doesn't mean "100% guaranteed comission" for all sales generated through that page. Hardcoding the affiliate link into the orderlink doesn't actually guarantee they'll *
always* get credit.
I've explained this topic more thoroughly in some older threads, but I'll give just a quick explanation here.
If you try to pass an affiliate id directly to a CB order form it will credit that sale to the affiliate,
as long as there isn't already a previous cookie set for that product.
This is how it actually works when you pass an aff id to the order form instead of using a hoplink to set the cookie... If you send a visitor with that link passing the aff id along *
and* it's the first time the visitor ever went to your page then they'll be counted for the affiliate.
If the visitor had previously found your site through another affiliate, but for some reason wasn't enticed to purchase your product. Then later on is doing another search and comes across the other affiliate. This affiliate has a much better review site and then when the visitor reaches your page he's pretty much already sold and he then clicks the order form on your sales page. The way it's supposed to work is that the second affiliates hop will overwrite the cookie and they'll get credit for the sale. It's fair to do it that way because the first affiliate didn't result in a sale and it took the salesmanship of the second affiliates promotion to make the sale.
But if your second affiliate send his visitors directly to your sales page you have set up for his aff id, when the visitor clicks the link for the sales page CB will credit that to the first affiliate. The reason for that is the last cookie set by the hop will take priority over the aff id variable you pass in the url for the link. The second affiliate is the one that actually resulted in the sale made when he sent the visitor to the salespage you set up for him, but instead the first affiliate that didn't amke the sale will be the one getting the commission.
Granted, that scenario of a previous cookie already set isn't going to happen that often for any particular affiliate, but in the rare case when it does happen, he'll lose his commission. (
Run that information by your affiliates and see how many decide they'd want to risk losing that occassional credit for the sale.
)
Sometime an experienced affiliate might actually do this themselves if they think they can make a better converting sales page.
When they do it themselves though, they've chosen to take the risk because they feel the additional sales from their better salespage might offset any lost sales because of the cookie issue. But it isn't something you would want to set up in the manner you're talking about. In that situation there isn't a "better sales page" to offset any lost commissions.
So, if you want to set up a redirect for your affiliates, it's still better to just redirect to the affiliates hoplink. It still works the same for you. When you make the redirect to aff.vend.hop.clickbank.net, the visitor will hop through CB, get the cookie set and then land on your salespage.
affiliates advert --> Ps3Manual.com/ps3-lights-fix --> aff.vend.hop.clickbank.net --> Ps3Manual.com
For the affiliate it's better that way because he'll get credit for all the sales in which he was the last affiliate to send you that visitor.
I actually think you have a good idea about offering to set up the redirects for the affiliates on your own host.
Just make the redirect to the affiliates hoplinks so everything works right everytime.
