need advice xp or 7???

Get the 7 its better than XP imo and those system recource charts are pretty useless unless your getting the most shit computer the store has to offer lol

+1 here for windows 7. Been using it for several months now, only had problems with some older software twice in all that time. Runs better than vista, easier to find drivers for new hardhardware (and a lot of the old ones too), and nicer user interface than xp.

Personally, I love Windows 7, since the first beta. I've used all the Windows OSs, and this is by far the best one, fallowed closely by XP.

I dont like Vista or 7 at all!

Shit!! I just bought win7. I was running XP & was just going to stick with it, but I got a really good price and just got it.

I didnt even fucking think about this. I have a desktop that I did NOT get win7 for, I only got it for my laptop. Is this going to be a problem, I'm going to have to set up my network again?

ALso, I have not Installed win7 on the laptop yet, I am looking for a free program that can backup my HD or at least 'my documents'....

I tried todo backup & it's not working right..

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use XP Pro, and am nervous about changing to 7 'cause I'm wondering if commenters here know how well previous platform software runs. I mean 7 doesn't do any good if none of your stuff will run on it, so like you, I'm wondering the same thing, and am EXTRA concerned about software compatibility.

So, I'd stay with XP until I know if everything will run on it. Maybe test it on one machine.

Win7 is graphical appealing and good for multi media, where as, windows xp is plain, non buggy, and doesn't take up as many resources. Not to mention xp options are way easy to navigate. I've been building/networking/troubleshooting pc's for a long time (8 years) and i'd have to say I like both and use both.

My gaming desktop runs xp 32 bit.
ati 4750 1 gig
2 gigs of ram
duo core 2.2ghz amd proc.

Idles at 380mb of ram used

My netbook runs win7 32 bit "starter" edition.

Single core 1.6ghz.
Onboard intel accelerator, 250mb vid ram
1 gig of ram

The netbook, which is what i use for iming and multimedia, performs well and is fun to use. My girlfriends netbook is win xp and works fine aswell though.

Basically If you have atleast a gig of ram and a 2.0ghz processor and your aim is to have a multi media computer, i would suggest win7.
If you have a computer with lower resources or you are a gamer and are seeking a less buggy invironment and lower resource usage, go with xp.

PS. If your running vista i would upgrade, downgrade, or throw your computer out the window, vistas horrible.
