yo everyone,

i'll be picking up a new machine with a few monitors tomorrow and i need some advice. i've always used xp but i think windows 7 might be cool as well and i want to ask the people that switched to 7 or atleast used it a bit more is it worth it over xp? what should i install on it, xp or windows 7?

thanks

win7, they added a lot of new features to it that really increase your productivity. Nice to have, even if the features were ripped off of mac osx

Windows 7, XP had a good run but it really is time to move on.

I'm also willing to bet that most people that claim to have ''switched to Windows 7 but I switched back because I didn't like it'' didn't do so, Windows 7 > XP.

I'm staying on my xp because i don't need to spend time on learning new useless features, at least that's my view point..

XP, because it's the best os ever and uses less computer resources :D

XP Flies, plus i dont like the "are you sure" bollocks that theyve added to every new OS, and has anybody tried networking an XP and a Win 7 box??? NIGHTMARE!!!

I've been using W7 since its first RC release (a couple of years ago?) and like all MS products, it has more than its fair share of frustrations, bugs, security holes and gotchas. But it's not too bad overall, and you can bet that MS will be doing nothing other than the absolute minimum to keep XP and Vista actually functional from here on out. (I use the term "functional" loosely in the case of Vista)

It took about a year for the W7 RC version to get corrupted to a point I had to do a clean re-install. When I was using XP I'd do one every 6 months or so. I installed Vista twice on 2 machines. Both lasted a week before the registry was so fucked the system was unstable. (Like a fool I re-installed it again on both machines only to find the same thing a week later. I trashed it after that and went back to XP)

W7 is certainly no worse, and in many areas a lot better than XP. It's not even worth mentioning how much better than Vista it is. (of course any op system that actually works is better than Vista)

lol im fucking confused right now seriously dunno wtf to do :P

Def Windows 7.
No comparison like a new and old ferrari.
Whoever says xp is better must be kidding me...
Evolution baby. 7 is one of the best I have used so far after many years with xp.

yo everyone,

i'll be picking up a new machine with a few monitors tomorrow
me too, no kiddin :D
i will buy a sony vaio lappy with win7 for my lil sis tomorrow
and yes, i always used winxp, but i used win7 a few times as well and i didn't liked it, so if i have to choose now, i'd say winxp
but win7 ain't bad at all, maybe if i have a chance to use it for a longer period (for weeks), after that i'd say win7...

im running something called Micro Xp its a smaller version of xp. Win 7 came with this new laptop but alot of programs are not compatiable with win 7 so i downgraded to xp.

LOL confused about what closed your eyes and get the win7. :D If you taking good hardware then.

if you're getting a brand new machine with core2duo or above i would go windows xp, if it's an older machine i would stick with xp or go with 7 and get rid of all the extra stuff you don't need

the thing i like about 7 is that it kills services and processes that you're not using and if you turn off the aero and stuff it will perform almost as quite as xp.

Biggest reason I would go with 7 is direct x 10/11 but that only applies if you're playing games :)

@ futuremills - i would probably stick with xp on a netbook
