Hey everyone my name is Reese, I've recently opened my Social Media Marketing agency and I've been hitting the streets! Ive been in in out of at least 50 small businesses, tons of calls and hundreds of emails. BUT! All I get is a "No", "No thanks we've tried social media", or I just get ignored. I'm determined to get my first client, but I cant seem to grab one no matter how hard I try! I'd appreciate any insight and advice!

    Thanks! ;)

In and out of 50 small businesses?

    That's about a day's work.

You need to provide proof of concept when you make a sales call. Show before and after pics, traffic generated by SM to the businesses, increase in their online reputation by positive comments on various sites.

Create a slide show/powerpoint presentation, something that will hit on a handful of benefits of using you so that they can see why it makes sense to hire you to manage or promote them via SM.

    Prove your value.

Figure out a way to show proof of concept.

Either take on your first client by offering up your services free for however long or create your own site and drive traffic to it via social media.

Eitherway, keep a daily log of your rank, views, and unique visitors metrics.

After some time you can prove your services earn more money for the company than they will have to spend.

Once you have proof of concept, sell them on the fact that you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and that you'll make them rich.

I recommend that you create a before and after, so that they can see the ROI. If businesses see a positive ROI, there shouldn't be any reason not to do it.

Thank you guys for these responses! I'll get on the before and after statistics!

But what should be the first thing out of my mouth? 9/10 times I shake a hand and say "Hi i'm Reese, I'm a social media marketing specialist". Then I normally just upfront ask if I can market for them... I know thats stupid as heck but I dont know what to say at the end of my intro! lol I'm not a shy person but i'm still fairly new to the game.

    just input for you..
don't use pro or big company word if you already startup..
why.. because client think will need much money to hire you..
also don't email or call first.. introduce your client with mail about you..
    sometimes, client in bad mood..
better if you request half money and rest after running.. build some trust..

I am experienced, I was an associate with a friend running small-large businesses social media for him, but I decided to start my own agency. So calling myself a "Social Media Marketer" would prob. be more ear friendly?

Also i'm thinking of charging $500-$1200 is that the correct threshold, because I know there's been a lot of back and forth on how that too little or too much... any advice?
