Google has been pushing out updates that are messing with a lot of people's rankings.
You might need to wait a bit (1-3 weeks) before it settles to see where the KW's end up and then work on your current website to improve results.

I'd say keep working on newer content for the time being, but keep an eye on the older stuff and improve it if possible.

It doesn't hurt to push more content on your money site as you can start trying to rank new content for when this Google stuff is done and get a head start against the people who are waiting for it to blow over.

That being said, your content might not show up in the SERPs even while doing this.

You can do both web 2.0 and your money site, no point not doing anything.
