Hi guys I found a really untapped niche in my country in creating a specialized second hand market for a certain type of product.
I would like to create a second hand market app however I really have zero experience in app development. I do have some basic programming knowledge in Python and I do have some wed design knowledge.

What I want from my app is for a user to be able to create a profile where he can sell/buy a certain product and monitor if someone is offering a product. Be able to earn a seller rank. The usual stuff basically.

I did research some app makers I especially liked Siberian CMS but I can't find information if it has such capabilities and to be honest it just looks like something that generates a PWA app.

For monetization I plan on doing adds and the ability to promote listings. Haven't really though much about that part since its a long way to go until I get there

All depends your target. According to your niche "second hand", this will be not a hit in Google Play or Appstore. Better for you to do responsible HTML5 website, with some javascript, bootstrap and material design/apple design to looks like app. Host it on your website and make regular SEO.

I also considered this but it is crucial for me to have an app icon on phones. Since people just don't remember websites and login credentials (this is very region and niche specific to my market) so having a ready to click icon is easier. I've researched PWA but I can't understand it since my JS is not really good. If you happen to have a good resources for creating a PWA-able website I will be thankful if you share.

Are there any other marketplace business that has had success from launching via an app?
Wouldnt you still need to have users login and authentication in an app anyway?
Sure you could 'save password' option but so can you on a website.

How is the user going to find your app even exists? Wouldnt they be coming from google mostly?

Yes there are other marketplace and their success is highly linked to how well their app is optimized to user experience. Literally the best marketplace has a website with a landing page that has a QR code for downloading the app. The other mostly have a website that is converted to an and the user experience is lacking
